Problems with Mini image
Well its not a problem per se, but if I asked directly most wouldn't have answered, anyway here it goes.
I need to burn a mini image, now I DO know that it makes no sense to try and burn a mini image, but in my case I see no other way. I have a game which Im trying to apply a NO-CD patch, the thing is it first requires for me to mount the mini image on a Virtual Ide Drive, but I use Windoes xp x64 so no Virtual IDE drive for me, mounting on SCSI drives doesn´t work, so the only way that I see would be to burn the mini image on a disc and then put the disc on the drive and finally apply the patch. But I cant for the life of me figure out how to burn the damn thing, well I tried changing to other formats but it wont read, Using Alcohol it reads a 6 gb file, which I cant burn, so any one know how can I burn JUST the mini image, I mean it weights in at 27 mb or so, how can I burn only that? Or if anyone has any other idea it would be a great help, well thanks in advance for any help. |
Errr no Virtual IDE drive for Windows X64?
Yes there is. Daemon Tools has one. No doubt VirtualCD is another. And dont burn mini-images it doesnt work that way. |
Windows XP.
There are no Virtual IDE drives in Windows Xp 64 bit(which is the one I got), what there are are Virtual SCSI drives, if you have WIndows XP x64 try it yourself, the Add Virtual IDE drive is grayout, and besides I already checked on the Daemon Tools and sure enough there is No VIDE support in XP 64. I know that burning mini images is, how should I say it, "counter-productive", (hell I been using mini images mounted for a long time now) but it is the only solution I can think of since the mini image wont work from a virtual SCSI. What Im thinking is along the lines of burning the information that gets recognized as copy protection, so I can try and run it from there, dunno if its possible to do it though. Anyway thanks for the comment. |
@DABHand
There's no vIDE for WinXP 64 and most probably never will. Quote:
@Soleyu Which game are you talking about and what kind of error meassage do you get ? |
nah dt virtual ide drive is not for windows xp64 / server 2003 due to some design changes afaik... its available on all other ones tho, vista, vista 64 etc.. also bear in mind afaik dt lite does not have vide at all.. so the whole thing gets messy quick...
and virtualcd is a piece of crap imho |
@Zulu
It's The witcher; and when I mount the mini image it says there is no disc on the drive, no autoplay either, I tried to open the mds and mdf files in Magic Iso, but it can't read them (it happens with all versions I tried so Im pretty sure that has more to do with the fact that it's a mini image than the possibility that its corrupted or something) Alcohol 120% would just acknoledge that its mounted but again, it says there is no disc on the drive. I tried to burn the image but it reads it like a 6 GB file and since I don't have dual layer DVD handy (or a drive that can burn them for that matter) I'm stumped, I was thinking of finding a program that would just take the info that is in the mds and burn it to a DVD or CD, just burn the info as it read it, but I'm not sure that such a program even exists. Well anyway thanks for the help, it seems XP64 has way more problems than I thought it would, heh. |
Sorry, you can't burn an emulated Tages copy to DVD, yet - no matter whether it's a mini or a full image, so you have to mount in a virtual drive.

it does, with vscsi, just no vide

Don't know whether this works on all platforms and rigs, but for me Witcher 1.2 works in vSCSI of DT lite 4.12.1 - just tested.
