Need help installing the Starcraft no CD crack
 

Hi all,
i found my SC cd again after 2 years missing(was moving out) and decided to play again. But it is anoying to always use the cd cos the sound and every thing, so i DLed the "Brood War v1.15.1 no-CD crack by xepra.KCH". Did everything he said(from the guide) but still doesnt works. Anyone can help me ?

Here is what in the guide:


Replace the storm.dll in your Starcraft Brood War directory with
the one in this archive.

If this is your first time running a no-CD crack, your paths may
not be set correctly; edit and run the bw_paths.reg file in the
archive. (Just make sure you replace every "C:\\Starcraft" with
wherever you have installed Starcraft; keep all the backslashes double)

Note: Please backup your original storm.dll before proceeding, just in
case.

I ve edited and ran the reg file.

But nothing happen. It still need the cd :(

Download the 1.15.2 official update, which has the CD check officially removed.

What Joe said seems to be the best choice. If nothing else works for these old games you can always make an image of it and use it through Daemon Tools.

Also broodwar is the expansion to the first Starcraft, if you dont have it you cant use that patch/crack.

Blizzard finally officially removing a cd chek? I didn't know Unbeliavable!!!!

After all agression they always had against nocd cracks on Battle.net they even forced GCW to remove the all the nocds from their games . I find strange. But I like the change of attitude from Blizzard

Des anyone know if they will do the same with other of their games?

I also have noticed some other companies has been removing the cd cheks. For example I recently bought some games from UBI: Silent hunter 3 budget version. this game used to had the starfarce garbage in the first release and this re-relase don't have cd chek. The same was for Blazing Angels 1 and CSI Hard evidence and Chessmaster 11

It seems the industry is moving slow from cd chek to to cd -key authentification instead. In some years it gives me the impresion cd cheks will bea thing from the past

well, sometimes developers decide to go with no protection (or possibly a simple cdcheck) after they think the sales window has passed... this is noticable in the unreal tournament updates etc... Sometimes they also remove the protection if they had a lot of claims from users about it being too strict or buggy etc...

I dont think its realistic however to assume that they'll switch from protection to authentication (online) checks in the future.. it really heavily depends on the publisher..

As in starcrafts case, its way passed its shelf life, and with Starcraft 2 coming soon, I guess Blizz let the people who had naughty copies of SC to witness it before SC2 in the hopes they will buy it.

Or they could have just been nice one day :P But its blizz we are talking about hehehe
