Isn't that a bit below the minimum systemrequirements?

"HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 2.4 Ghz / AMD® 64™ 2800+ / Intel® and AMD® 1.8 Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported"

XP processors went upto 3ghz before being given the heave ho to make way for 64's, Opterons and Semprons.

But im assuming CoD4 makes uses of some instructions sets that cant be found on the earlier XP chipset, so I would say no XP CPU's wont work.

I'd rather set fire to me head and put it out with a sledgehammer than get a 360 :D

n00b_bi22o: I'm playing with a Athlon XP1800+@2 GHhz, Radeon 9800 Pro, 1 GB Ram, Vista x86.
My graphic settings: 1024x768,2xAA, textures at automatic, glow and shadows disabled.
It runs really smooth in single and multiplayer ;-))
I'm really happy that I can play the game with my sys in that good quality.
So It's possible to play with a older systems :D

These are the official requirements:

I dont see how an XP chip with only SSE can play a SSE2 requirement game

Buschwusch 26-11-2007 06:22

But I see, I CAN play the game!
This is a fact, Im not stoned.

DABhand 26-11-2007 08:58

Do you have any SSE emulation software running or something?

Cause I just cant see how :P

Buschwusch 29-11-2007 16:48

No, I'm just using Vista x86 Ultimate, a nForce 2 board, a Radeon 9800 Pro and the Catalyst 7.8.
There's a thing a had to do, I had to delete/rename the mssmp3.asi in the miles folder in order to start the game, now I don't have music, but all other sounds are fine.
Small price and I'm playing online with enough FPS to play successfull ;-)

Well renaiming mssmp3.asi to mssmp3.asi.bc helped me a little.

i can now connect to a server but when it loads the map the load bar goes 1/5 and the computer locks up and i have to reboot.

i have AMD Athlon 2,2 ghz 2800+
512 mb ram¨
geforce 7600 gt 256 mb

Windoze xp
directx 9.0c
newest nvidia drivers

I have aplied the 1.4 official patch
upgraded punkbuster to newest
using to no cd and private server patch 1.4 from GCW ( tried them all i think)

Game either crashes on startup or at best when im connected to a server and the map loads ( load bar loads a little and then computer freezes)

I know its and old rig but others succed in running the game with even older rigs, so i should be able to run it also with a little tweaks and corrections?

*UPDATE*

Tried turning both punkbuster on and off to investigae if PB caused this but still crash or lock.
Then tried my making my own server on lan and i was able to join it and play ( with my self) without any problems.

i now suspect that it might be a problem with my router, eventhough i dont see what as ive opened all the ports the moment i recieved it to avoid problems with various internet programs.

This is weirds as im able to play on my own server but it locks/crashes when connection to another server on the internet?

pasting the crash info might help you know...
chances are it could be your processor being too old or smth...
more info helps...

Info?
It crashes to windows when i try connecting to a server.
It loads up, sometimes even map loading screen is displayed, then its puff...

When im back on desktop theres an error window but i cant see the message cause its hidden behind a black window where the game screen had been.( i run desktop in 1280x1024 and the game in 800x600.

Funny thing is a can make a server and play on it, but when i try connecting to others servers, pufff...

I just completed singel player with no problems at all..
