call of duty 4 how to connect to a private server?

first things first COD 4 is aaaawesome

a friend of mine recomended me to install a private server patch and i did but i have no idea how to use it and what its for

can you guys help

and one thing since i installed the patch whenever i go to join a game and search for servers it wont show results!!! prior to installing the patch i could see available servers etc not anymore?

can you guys help me and explain to me what a private server patch is for and how to use it do i have to enter my freinds server ip manually? if so how ?

A private server patch allows you to play multi-player games on your own LAN rather than official servers established by the developer/publisher on the Internet. (Isn't there a small documentation included that describes this?)

how do you connect to a pivate server?

my friedn for example will create a private server but where can i type the server's ip address ?

open the console in-game and type
connect [ip-adress]:[port]

for example:
connect 127.0.0.1:1234

press enter, play!

how do you open the console :( sorry i am a noob when it comes to pc games

In the game press the "~" button. There, most of the developpers are putting the command for the console

For me it's "§" button (to the left of "1"). When the console shows itself be sure to remove the "§" that is there.. :)

I think you have to enable the console under the options before starting a game.
