Having some problems with the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory no-cd patch
Alright, before I continue on with this post, I do own the game, I just hate having to lug my CD out every time I want to play. Ok, onto my question:
I downloaded the no-dvd patch from GCW and followed the directions to the point- I copied the files from the System folder in the .rar into my System folder in SC:CT directory, and the same with the Maps. When I go to boot it from my start menu, however, my mouse turns to an hourglass for a few seconds, and then does nothing. The game doesn't pop up, it doesn't give me an error message... it just does nothing. Is there something I forgot to do? |
Try without a crack; does that work?
|
Hmm? What do you mean? I installed it from my disk and then applied the no-cd patch. I know it works with the disk, but I want it to run without it.
|
Sorry, it's just that there's the usual mistake of the gamer not checking that the game runs without a crack. As you didn't explicitly state that it does for you, I came up with the usual question...
|
Oh! I'm sorry, I COMPLETELY forgot to post that.
With the DVD, it runs fine. But after I applied the no-cd patch, it's not running with or without the DVD. x_x Anything else I should try? EDIT: Oh, and without the no-cd patch, it won't run without the DVD. |
SO you update to v1.05, use the Reloaded crack.
You need the crack from GCW which consists in two archive: one of 16.9Mb, the other of 10.7MB. The Reloaded crack was flawed and they released a fix later. But they didn't made a repack. The cracked files are in the 16.9Mb archive, the working exe is in the archive of10.7Mb. You copy the DATA and SYSTEM files from the first archive and the exe form the second archive(the 10.7MB one) Should work fine... |
Thank you VERY much! I'll try that right now, after I finish updating! If this works, I am in your debt!
