Cracking guides
I looked at some of the cracking guides and decided to give them a try just for fun. However, a lot of them either don't work or they are designed for people experienced with cracking. Anyway, just for fun, I downloaded mIRC and installed it. As you know, the EXE file has a nag screen, which I read was recommended to cracking newbies. I decompiled in wdasm and opened in hex workshop and found some register "calls," but beyond that I am stuck since I don't understand some of the terminology used in the tutorials. I also don't understand the softICE link and how it relates to this. Is this some next step? Sorry of this is the wrong forum.

Well game backups does not = reverse engineering.
But as in cracking guides, for example the Mirc nag screen is there to remind you to be nice and donate money to the guy who made it, now obviously your one of the many who wouldnt, and probably wouldnt do the same for any other program that did the same (WinRAR etc). Removing a protection from a game to play it without the media is one thing, trying to bypass application protections/nags is another. You want it removed go out and buy it. Its not even that expensive for a lifetime registration. Even at that cracking protections open is not an easy thing period. You must know ASM inside and out, know about PE headers etc Years of learning. |

I see you didnt read what I said.
Fileforums is about game backups and playing your original games without the media. You will not get help for removing nag screens or cracking apps here. Mirc nag screen = serial needed to remove. Thats not discussed here. |
Closed, forum rule #1. No non-game applications!
