Anyone ever order a Dell?
 

I just purchased a new dell laptop, customized from their site. My god, I ordered on the 18th, am not supposed to get it until the 9th-13th of August...next month.

Has anyone else ordered one with a delivery date like that, and did it come much earlier?

Ordered 2 PCs from them. One took 2 months, the other 3. So don't complain :cool:

you have to have in mind they have huge demand, so i guess those waiting times are to be expected, i would personally never order from dell, i´ve heard some real horror stories, specially when trying to update the hardware

Dell Drivers!!
 

I have a dell Optiplex GX260 at home, but I will never forget how hard it is to get appropriate drivers at www.dell.com.

I thought it would be quicker though. We order Dell's from our office and it takes about 5 days to get it no matter the customizations. I ordered with our company discount, and I thought it would ship a little faster. The note said "allow 10 business days for deliver". Turned into more than 20 days, or an extra business week and a half. Meh, I am happy though. 15% off.

I ordered a laptop several months ago from Dell, and it did come a little late, luckily it did because through research from the time I ordered and the time it actually was delivered I found a much better deal on Newegg on a laptop with similar to better specs for less at that time. I just refused the shipment from Dell when it was delivered.

Make sure you search for Dell discounts online. That can save you big$$$ on Dell systems. Good luck with your new Dell...

Yah, the coupons knock off like $300+

I ordered over a month ago and it gets delayed every week. It was suppsoed to ship on 8/30, but I was tricked enough. I canceled. They gave a $100 coupon last week though, so I bought an external 5.1 USB card, and a wireless mouse. Good thing I did, since the Vostro offers better stats at a cheaper price. I purchased one of those, it seems to be the alternative that many XPS and Inspiron buyers have chosen after the delays. And they have been shipping on time, even early. It just doesn't look as nice, but I can live with that.

We will see if I get my laptop on 9/4.
