Any police officers out there?

I have a question about a story and want feedback from all especially police.

if there are any cops here, i doubt they would reveal themselves as they could be involved in some operation scenewise etc... if you want police feedback about a story... contact your local police station for comments...

I once knew a cop. I met him on the highway, but I never saw him other than that one time. He was a nice guy and was kind enough to give me some driving tips.

What is your question? My friend's pop is a retired popo, but I probably know him well enough to know what his answer would be.

false software cops notice

Got an e-mail from the cops these days that I bought a pirated edition of Adobe Acrobat from ebay now they want me to accuse the private seller, which I won't do even if I would loose my money.

I was shocked for two days.

Only email? Wait for the official letter to come. Cops don't use email aside from the automated stuff that tells you you are illegally dling something. Only got one of those, and that was for downloading Knoppix lol.

I'd say someone is pulling your leg here.

Knoppix!!

Downloading Knoppix is legal as well as open office it's free software.

Don't know why you should have trouble with the police for this kind of download?

Hope you know all the other legal distributions of Linux?

If not I could give some training in some zulu languages.

If that was a real E-mail from the police (highly doubt it!), trouble came because the police are a bunch of idiots when it comes to software. (Actually, in Hungary, the police was using illegal software in the equivalent amount of ten thousands of dollars until they made a deal with M$ to get their software for low prices. Also, there were raids where they labeled legally downloaded software as pirated copies and wanted the subject to pay a fine for that, too.)

As for Linux, all of its distributions are free software (don't mix it up with freeware; if you don't know the difference, see the appropriate page on http://www.gnu.org!) - and therefore legal to download and use for any purpose - because they consist of software released under the GNU Public License (or a compatible licence). And Linux IS better than Windows in most respects IF you (want to/manage to) learn how to use it; your comparison result is greatly flawed! (Nope, I don't use Linux either - not at all at home and rarely at work - but I know its advantages...) How long have you used Linux, if at all?

Linux experience!!

I have used Linux only for a few weeks.

Didn't even manage to install it on a scsi-hard disc drive, shame on me.

But managed to install it on a normal hard disc.

The hardest thing is to use the console with all the commands and stuff like that.

Installed different distributions on different computers. That's it!!

And I don't want to treason all downloadsites for linux only if I were asked personally.
