Why is there a NoCD for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?
 

I've installed stalker taken the dvd out and am playing fine. Why is there a no-cd for it?

Because its Securom/Starforce protected in some countries.

Run Protection ID on the game and see what it says!

I think only the russian version got Starforce.
And there are 4 cracks available at the moment for Stalker: 2 english(Vitality and Hatred), 2 russian(RuGCW).

According to Hatred, Vitality's crack is not a proper one, see nforce for details.
Im using the Vitality rls (I wouldnt dare using a Hatred crack ;)) and it works fine so far -> German version

i tried both no-cd´s by now and installed and uninstalled the game about a hundred times by now but still i dont get the game to work the second time i want to start it.first time is no problem but after that i get a loading screen for about 2 seconds and then it crashes back to desktop :(
i´ve got a english/german version pls, maybe someone could help !
also the mini image doesnt help, it just leads to an error report :(

i´m using daemon tools 4.08HE, also tried to use yasu with it but nothing worked...

Try without a mini image, too. (Read the forum FAQ for more infos...)

still not working
 

tried it without image, still no chance. after every installation i can start it once (even with nocd-file) but the second time it crashes after a 3 second loading screen :(

any more ideas ?

i had first the no cd from vitaly (finnish the game no props) than the hatred )also no probs) both cracks work fine.
the rusian novd's are for the russian version, (that 1 is 4.29 gb) the englihs around 3.4gb

Why the size difference from English to Russian release? Have the Russians got larger doses of radiation in their version? :D

The radiations are coming from our old "friend" called starforce". The english version is securom protected, while the russian version uses "Starfarce". Sorry for the russians, as they don't deserve this. After all, a russian company offered us S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

And what's wrong with the german uncut version? Vitality and Hatred are MULTI4 (only), but GER also seems to have SecuROM 7.31.0010. What's the difference if their No-DVDs don't work on it, anyone knows?
