Halo 2 for PC is only compatiable with Windows Vista, what a big joke, there going to lost almost every customer

The game is coded with Direct3D 10. What's a better way to show it off than to do it using their biggest game franchise?
Vista may only work with a minimal amount of hardware compared to current OS's, but you will also need a $300-$400 gfx card to even play it. If your PC's hardware even supports those cards, chances are that the Manufacturer already has drivers for Vista. Frankly, Halo 2 isn't enough for me to spend that kind of cash. I would rather buy any of the game consoles than to purchase a card that is almost as much, if not more. Besides, the company I work with is doing an overhaul, and we are moving to a new floor on a different building this september. Vista will then be pushed out to new hardware. We get Office 2007 in a couple days :) |
Microsoft are clever a bit. They know people with dodgy XP's will not be able to get DX10 soon, due to the fact you require a legit windows to get any updates etc.
So it will hurt the warez peeps. Expect other Publishers/Developers to go the same route. |
... until an acceptable solution, for circumventing Vista's all copy protections, arises, that is... Knowing how able crackers are and the how high the interest in this issue is, it should happen any time! ;)

Dodgy Xp or legal Xp it will be the same won't play. Microscrap said DX10 will be only compatible with Vista so I really don't see the difference and for the Vista copy protection I doubt it willbe a great success since crackers always find a way specially in the M$ protections
|
As I heard, I don't know if this is true, M$ will release the DX 9.0L for WinXP. This will allow people to play DX10 games in Windows XP.

Yep, and it says in the Readme of the game that game uses DX9, so I'm gonna go over to a friends house in 10 min. and see if I can coax it into working on XP :)

It does not surprise me to hear that some brainiac(s) are hard at work to make Vista only DirectX10 games work for XP DX9. I am also not surprised to hear all of this negative talk about Vista. I have been using Microsoft's OS since 1994; and it has always been the same scenario. Those of you looking for a DX10 video card; go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/wheret...RYPRODUCT_0=75
I found a GeForce 8500 DX10 card for about $85 from TigerDirect; all of GeForce 8xxx are DX10. Unfortunately, they are only PCI-Express. |
Daft
 Isn't it funny how everyone is saying its a Direct-X issue, thats not the case, is the xbox-live compatibilty that is the real reason why Halo2 is vista only for now. It clearly states in the game info that the specs are Direct-x9. hope this clear up any confusion :)
