DUO 3 installed....UPDATE: chip sucks donkey...
 

i have the DUO3 installed on my V16(77001) ps2. Anyone have this chip or know anything about it? it seems to be picky on the games which i know work. My old 39001(ver7) booted these games fine and this new ps2 takes forever or goes to the red screen that says to INSERT A PSX or PS2 game. after a number of resets it does boot.

Could either be a picky laser or a very untidy install...

YOurs truly installed it. after reading some forums on the DUO3, by soldering in a 1K resistor between the 3.3v pad and ground pad on the chip, this will resolve the issues....... i hope.

As long as the wires are short and don't cross too much you should be perfectly OK... as long as they aren't like spaghetti, you should be fine. :)

The one in my avatar is a v14 Crystal v1.1 I did a couple of weeks back. :cool:

i do know that the 3.3v wire is 6 inches or so. should i remount the chip closer to the solder spots on the motherboard? right now i have the chip mounted on the right hand side but most of the solder points are on the left side.

One other thing i have noticed is that when i play Call of Duty2 online, i cant get online and get to the COD2 menu and select a game to play but when i do i get booted out to the online menu. BUT i can create a session map and connect there to play. I just cant join someone elses game. weird.... i could fine with the old 39001 with magic2. anyone know about this?

the resistor trick did it. sped up loading times greatly. still trying to figure out about the COD2 online play issue.

this chip sucks so bad. i installed it in my 77001 then added the resistor to help boot times. this thing doesnt play hardly any of my dvd-r games. some games boot, some games freeze up in the middle, some dont even load, video is choppy, freezes. im fed up with this. My old 39001 played everything. what to do????
