The Settlers 2 - The Next Generation > New Version 9801

Any news when the NOCD crack will be out?
I hate to having to always insert a CD whenever I would like to play this game.
ps. As a temporary workaround I have used the NO-CD patch for the original version of the game on the patched version and it works. But I'm not sure if all the fixes are also in effect.

ps. A link to the patch which was released more than 2 months ago:

No, the fixes won't be in effect when using the crack for an older version with a newer version of the game; be prepared for weird behavior and/or crashes. (The forum FAQ covers this...)

I thought so to. But thus far it works OK.
What about creating a mini-image. I do believe I heard somewhere that U can do that from an original media. Is that true?

ps. Still any news for the no-cd crack?
Ohh yes, and my great thanks goes to wonderful ppl that are making our lifes much simpler by making NO-CD cracks. TNX

yup mini image is probably possible, read the faq (its in joes sig) to see how its done

Just use the Mini-/Maxi-Image from GCW and Y.A.S.U.

Mount the image with the latest D-Toolz and hide your virtual drives with Y.A.S.U. and start the game. It works.

wow, tanxx viewer-x
am sure gonna try your suggestion!
hope it works.

ashrack 15-12-2006 07:13

IT DOES WORK!
But I mounted the image with ALCOHOL instead of D-tools and after applied the YASU and it works.
It just takes a long time (half a minute) when starting the game now, because of the CD checking it is performing.
Is this normal?

TippeX 15-12-2006 08:19

if it works, why would you care about a paltry 30 second 'delay'...
and using alcohol instead of daemon tools probably doesnt matter
as both operate in a very similar fashion (shared coder pool)

Yes. And if compress this image by NTFS, it shrinks from 624Mb to 16KB on disk! :)
