You cant just swap drives and expect it to work. You need a multimeter to adjust the laser pots correctly then adjust the "Radial Skew" from there. Each drive is unique so if you have never done this it can be a little hard. Shadowknyghts site Has a laser tutorial that may help you get started. Read the "laser replacement" tutorial very carefully, It can be a slow and time consuming process but you can get through it with a little patience :) Good luck.

i did use my multimeter to check the ohms on each drive and each one was in spec

Yes, anymore it is VERY dead. For some reason everybody seems to have left the console forums. Not sure if it was the old "Hardcore" moderators that drove everyone away or what exactly happened but this forum did at one time "thrive". Now its lucky to see 5 new post a month :(

Its very difficult to readjust the laser if you have never done it. Alot of times people burn out the new replacement laser trying to get it adjusted.
Why dont you contact Spedmetal at www.norcalmods.com. I am sure he would fix it up for you at a very reasonable price.

since i bought this ps2 from ebay, i already contacted the seller and they will issue a refund. Now i can go find another 39001 model and go from there.
