Dark Messiah - Canīt see the vids
hi,
strange problem i got here. game works good, but i can´t see the videos. all i see/hear is a black screen and some white lines and the sound. that´s it. anyone got an idea on how to fix this? directx is latest, graphicsdriver as well. |
I don't know if it will help, but you can try to down-set to 800x600, only to see if its a monitor-problem or a codec-problem.
|
Install DirectX from the game disc. (I know you said you have the latest but Ive heard this sometimes needs to be done from the game disc.)
|
thx, i tried with setting the resolution down and also installed the direct x from the game disc. it still doesnīt work. :(
but i realized that even the vids on the beginning, the ubisoft logo and all that, are also not working... whatīs the problem? |
And this occurs with the original DVD, too? Have you tried re-installing the game? What format are the videos? (I'm sure you don't lose much with the intro movies, though... ;))
|
yes, this happens with the original as well. i reinstalled, no go.
then i installed the demo again and i got the same problem there...:\ i donīt know which format the vids do have, do you think itīs a codec problem? |
Run GSpot on those files; it will tell you the video format and whether or not the necessary codecs are installed.
|
thx, but the program says, no valid .avi file, when i try to put the videos in. the videos have the filename .bik, so i guess these are bink video files. the funny thing is i can play them with the bink player and thereīs a codec for this (at least i think so?!) videos included. but ingame the videos are still not working.
well, fuck it, iīll play without those damn vids, iīm tired of tryin this and that..iīll just listen to the sounds an watch those nice white lines on the black screen, what the hell... :D |
.bik files are played by binkw32.dll and RAD Video Tools.
|
Quote:
and what´s about the binkw32.dll, is there something wrong with this file, so the videos do not work? |
RAD Video Tools consists of two stand-alone players, those won't make the game play the videos; binkw32.dll is the "codec"!
|
i got this binkw32.dll in many gamefolders of games i have installed, including DM OMaM, but with the other games where this .dll is located the videos do work. so this canīt be the problem, right?
|
Yeah, probably, the Bink subsystem is fine. There may be some video problems, though, as GLH and Grumpy pointed it out. Read the forum FAQ for a few ideas on solving general problems with games...
|
i´ll write them an email with my problem, i think this is the only thing left, maybe they have a clue what the problem is.
anyway, thanks for trying to help me. :) you can close this if you like. ;) |
