DVD-Rom Problem

Hi ill try to give as much info as possible here to see if anyone can help.

I recently started buying games to play online,to be precise f.e.a.r and battlefield 2142.The games will install from dvdrom fine, but when i go to play them it sems the game cannot detect my disc in the drive.

A partial workaround for fear was to open the dvd up in windows explorer and double clicking the autorun, but having just installed battle field 2142 it wont work at all.

I have a pretty clean windows install, with only ultraiso as something close to emulation software maybe causing a conflict?.
2 sata drives, and my dvd drive (pioneer 111),set up as primary ide master.

Thses are legit games with cdkeys etc and any help to whats going on would be much appreciated, the dvd drive is fine apart from this,it looks like it just wont run pc games?

(Wrong forum, moved.)

Contact the publisher(s) with a detailed description of your problems; it's their duty to help you.

hey great - finally i meet someone with the same problem and the best solution around is .. contact the publishers .. I have an NEC 4450A DVD drive with the newest drivers, no emulation software installed, a retail BF2142 dvd, reset my dvd drive... suddenly i cant read any of my retail games dvds?! My half-life2 dvd wont get read either, but CDs get read, Movie DVDs work fine, everything else works fine... wtf?? everything works excepts the brand new games i bought!

Perhaps, your DVD-ROM drive is incompatible with the latest copy protection versions?

Older drives cant read newest protections....

Well, the original poster's Pioneer (DVR-)111 is a quite new drive...!
