Dvd-r
sup guys, i guess its been a long time sense i backed up any of ps2 games. cause when i went to meritline to buy some G04 dvd-r media i noticed that they have been discontinued. i was disapointed cause for me these were the best cause they had that dark purple which were superb for my ps2. i also noticed when i pop in any of tdk dvd-r's, or verbatim dvd-r's my ps2 has to try to really hard to read the data on the disc but when i pop in my old school ritek G04 dvd-r it plays flawlessly and cut scenes are not choppy. so any ideas what ar the next best thing to the G04 or any media that has that dark purple recordable side?

I think http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm is a good guide on blank DVD media quality.

I quit using the ritek brand when they switched to the G05 dye. In my opinion the Taiyo Yuden 8x dvd-r with the TYG02 dye is the best. They work as well or better than the old ritek media. I have also heard very good things about the 16x TY media with the TYG03 dye. Both are sold at meritline and are very affordable.
BTW, Great site Joe :). |
u know what warlock i was lookin at the taiyo yuden brand but was kinda scepticle. and yeah i bought some ritek G05 and they sucked big time thats why i was hoping to find some G04's bought saw that they got discontinued. hey warlock what color is the dye on those taiyo yuden 8x dvd-r and the 16x TYGO3 ?

Dark purple. Its hard to tell the difference between the G04 and the TYG02. Give them a try, You wont be disappointed ;)

will do. now i just have to wait till payday. i also saw some ritek arita G04 and i noticed that they have like a pink recordable surface. i dont know if its really pink or they just added some color for advertisement. but id much rather go for something that has been proving to work flawlessy so im gonna give those taiyo yuden dvd-r a try. thanx for the help!
