Final Fantasy 8 Crash at Ragnarok
 

Hi!
I've got a big problem with Final Fantasy 8. It always crashes on the third cd when squall and rinoa wnats to fly to the ragnarok in space. I've an ATI Card and the 1.2 Patch for the game. Does someone know a solution?

I know how to fix it. I don't know exactly what causes it but its a bug in that FMV. You need to hit F12 in normal mode - maybe just as you save Rinoa in space. A console-ish display should appear. Then hit F8 to turn off movies. That *should* do the trick, but if you want to be extra safe, hit F9 and F11 to turn off actors and backgrounds. Then just turn them all back on when you're inside the Ragnarok and hit F12 to remove the console.

Movies work fine in my pc with win xp on FF8, if i'm not wrong, i believe you need to download the latest patch, and the windows xp patch.

No, the patch doesn't seem to fix it. The problem only seems to happen occasionally. I had tried the patch prior to trying to do in this way to no avail. It's either the FMV is doing it or its an actor-related problem. Though it does seem to happen either during or as the FMV is finishing (which could mean the actors are causing it to crash).
The Windaws error messages are no help either (oh why oh why couldn't they release this for linux ><)
