hey all

my wife got her self a game ( harry potter goblet of fire ) but she cant play it
when we try to run it .. it doesnt do anything
i hit ctrl / alt / delete .. and it does show up in the processes but only for a couple of seconds then it goes away again

the system requirements are
OS: Windows XP or 2000
CPU: 1.2 ghz
RAM: 256 MB
HARD DRIVE 1.2GB
VIDEO: DirectX 9.0c / 32mb or more

i have

Windows xp pro
2.0 cpu
512 ddr
200gb
128mb geforce

so i dont know why my computer wont run it ???? .. i have also put it on my other computer .. everything the same other then it has a 128mb radeon9000pro card in it

we have took the game back to wallmart but they said that we have to send it back to ea games ... so we sent them an e-mail telling all about our problem and all they sent back was some info for us to try .. all of witch didnt work

question is ... anyone here have any ideas on what i can try next ?

Does your computers have the minimum system requirements for the game?

Grumpy 12-08-2006 23:51

Update your video drivers, also your sound card drivers and reinstall DirectX9.

Grumpy : yes the system requirements are:
OS: Windows XP or 2000
CPU: 1.2 ghz
RAM: 256 MB
HARD DRIVE 1.2GB
VIDEO: DirectX 9.0c / 32mb or more

this is whats in my computer
Windows xp pro
2.0 cpu
512 ddr
200gb
128mb geforce

GLH:
i have done that .. also just incase it was a spyware / mailware / virus that was the problem i also did a clean format and put everything back on .. starting with the video & sound drivers .. then directx .. then the game .. and still the same problem .. my computer will run other games fine
example

GTA
GTA SA
HITMAN BLOOD MONEY
GHOST RECON ect ect

so i have no idea what the problem is ... also just been on ea web site just incase there was an update patch or something like that ... but there isnt :(

but thanks for the help :)

GLH asked about System requirements,
I mentioned updating the Video, Sound and directX.

You got the answers mixed up but I know what you meant. ;)

sorry about that ..lol

When you update the drivers you will have to update the motherboard drivers and whatelse is left also.

Why its loading and then dying on you could be a driver issue but it could be that the protection failed to read the disc.

Also remember to update the game also.

And to use the latest no-cd, to check if the protection is indeed the culprit.

sorry took so long to get back
ok i did the updates ... and still the same problem .. i also took it round to a friends house to put on his computer .. and the same problem there aswell .... eagames wont e-mail me back anymore .. and walmart wont take it back .. they still say that we have to go through eagames ... so i think i am stuck with a game that wont work
