How do you remove autorun.exe from a pre-made mini-image?

Hey guys!

I recently started thinking about playing some multiplayer BFME1 and popped the CD right in and installed it and patched it to the latest version (1.03). I also downloaded the mini-image from gamecopyworld.com so I don't have to use that darn CD every time I want to run my game. Everything works perfect but then I thought about the idea to create a simple batchfile which

1. Mounts the mini-image
2. Start BFME1.exe
3. Wait for it to quit and then unmount the mini-image

This also works 100% but I get annoyed by the autostart.exe "inside" the .mds mini-image which open all the files from the mini-image. Is there a simple app that can simply delete autostart.exe and autostart.inf without "destroying" the mini-image?

I tried opening it with UltraISO but the program crashed after importing say 700.000+ files/directories :)

Any ideas?

Rename the AUTORUN.INF file inside the ISO; yes, with some ISO utility (or a hex editor ;) ).

Thanks for your reply Joe but as I wrote in my first post I tried opening the iso but UltraISO simply crashed while opening the file.

Any other suggestions for a good iso-editing program?

Hex editor is way beyond me :)

Hmmm, perhaps, a simple automatic patch would also be sufficient: it runs through the ISO file and replaces all "AUTORUN.INF" strings (including those in Unicode, in the Joliet file system with long file names!) to, say, "AUTORUN.IN ". Drop me an E-mail and I'll make one during the weekend (no time for this at work...).

I'm surprised that you even have autorun active. The revelation that rootkits are being installed by store-bought audio CDs really opened my eyes to the security hole that autorun creates.

See http://sta.c64.org/shared/AUTORUN_INF.ZIP for a small generic patch. Dunno how well it works, though. Included is the patch script, to be compiled with apatch to get the EXE.

I like autorun it does me more good than bad, simply hold down LEFT SHIFT key if your going to pop in a audio cd you think may have protection, anyhow MS nuked root crap with there Antispy tool (now Defender) long ago.
