Cannot burn PS1 games correctly, tried everything.
Ok, this is extremely strange, I have tried everything I can think of.
My burned PS1 games play in my PS2 fine, but they barely load in my PS1, and the music and movies skip like crazy, ive exhausted just about every option. I tried the original disk, plays fine. I tried a different game, same thing. I thaught maybe its the media (I am using Taiyo Yuden) and tried a different brand, same thing. I thaught maybe it was the drive or speed (my burner cant go under 4x for a cd-r, but these disks werent letting me burn with that burner under 8x, kinda fast for a PS1), I switched to an older pc with a 1-4x burner and tried at 1x, same thing. I tried re-creating the image in case it was bad, same thing. I tried a direct copy from the original to the cd-r, same thing. All my originals and the games I had burned before work just fine in the PS1, so I don't think its the ps1's laser either. And heres the strange thing, I tried making a backup of Nights for the Sega Saturn (recently installed a modchip in my saturn), the backup played perfectly in the saturn, and the audio tracks also played perfectly in my ps1, the ps1 game I was trying to backup had an audio track too, but it was playing terribly. Also, even stranger, when I tried nero disk quality test, it was littered with C1 errors and very few C2, but the Sega Saturn Nights disk I burned didnt have a SINGLE C1 or C2 error. I have absolutely no idea what could be going on, anyone have a clue? Oh, and as for why I don't just use my PS2, I want to make sure the backups are in good shape in case anything happens to my PS2, plus some of my PS1 games don't work in a PS2. |
Two things you didn't think of was to mention what software you are using to do this nor what your burner is.

I tried Nero and Alcohol 120%
This burner is a Lite-On SOHW 1673S and the other one that was 1-4x that I tried is a HP CD-Writer+ 8200 |

The HP will not burn PSX games at all, never has.
Neither will your Lite-on unless it can burn raw and I don't think any DVD burner can. |

Read this review. The lite-on is more than capable of PSX backups. It is 100% compatable with clonecd and is capable of writing RAW-DAO-96.
The problem lies elsewhere. |
