problem with .mds mounting autorun

:eek: whenever i mount a .mds image with daemon instead of AUTORUN starting the games launcher i have a windows explorer window open displaying the contents of the image. When i click on a setup.exe or autorun.exe type file a small dos/cmd window appears for half a second then nothing at all happens. This may be easily fixed but i cant for the life of me understand why. I would really appreciate any help on this issue as it prevents my from using close to every image i have.

Read the FAQ, but basically when that window opens...close it and start the game from the games original desktop shortcut.
The files you see in the window, which opens when the mini image is mounted, are not full files, a mini image only really contains the protection info, nothing else. ;)

@Ska++ord
Is your image on harddisc or burnt to DVD (with e.g. Nero) ?
Is Auto Insert notification activated in DAEMON Tools' Device parameters ?

i think he mounts a mini/maxi image.

So this is normal.

yes I believe Ska++ord is talking about mounting either a Maxi or a Mini image but hey I could be wrong. ;)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDRom

@ Ska++ord:

First try this: Right-click on the Daemon-Tools icon in your taskbar.. Highlight options and uncheck AutoStart. This will prevent the Contents from displaying when you load the image.

Method 2: If you are using WindowsNT you can double-click on "My Computer"; right-click on the Virutal Drive and Select properties. On the properties sheet for the drive you will see some basic Options to configure AutoPlay under the "AutoPlay" Tab.

For advanced users..w/ WinXP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q155217

As far as AutoRun is concerned you should always run the games from your desktop shortcuts.. or any shortcut that points to the original .EXE which starts the game. As mentioned mini images dont actually contain all the data. They are bloated with Binary Zeros to fool the Software Protection.
