Halo: Combat Evolved - a crack request for a simple CD check version.

I don't know whether I'm allowed to post this (although I've read the rules carefully), but - what the hell - I'll take my chances.

When searching through my CD collection I stumbled upon an OEM version of Halo. And it seems to be protected only by a regular CD check. Version build is: 1.8.5.452 and the original EXE is here. Someone help me please!

BTW, I noticed that pokopo has made two crack requests in the same way and got what he asked for. Perhaps I'll have as much luck as he had? Please, please help. This CD check is a nuissance, nothing more, but still, a nuissance.

Oh, by the way, I still own the regular Halo apart from this OEM. But still, I feel a strange sentiment to this version...

could you please upload all dlls from the gamedir?

Delacroix02 28-06-2006 13:50

Sir, yes, Sir! Here they are, SIR!

Hi,

I'm a noob at this cracking stuff, but even I can tell you this is a bit more than a simple CD check, and therefore I am unable to help you :(

Delacroix02 28-06-2006 22:53

Definitely no SafeDisc, SecuROM, not to mention StarForce. Well, Kruska, I'll wait for someone who can help me. I'm a patient man.

The-S-Owl 29-06-2006 00:45

It is protected with Smarte.

Delacroix02 29-06-2006 00:48

Well, I'll exercise patience. I've been waiting for a crack to appear since 2003, I can wait a while longer.

Smarte works like safedisc (bad sectors) - try to make a mini image - maybe that's the solution

yep it´s the SmartE wrapper + simple disc check.
btw... for me it works even if i make a backup with nero (burn as data cd).

but even I can tell you this is a bit more than a simple CD check
not really much more ;) it can be done in olly debug by using a backup cd, just trace to the OEP and dump.

quake_ger 29-06-2006 12:29

this executable has been taken from the beta version!

:P

caki 29-06-2006 12:47

yeah, although the problem is that I do not have a backup CD :(

quake_ger 29-06-2006 15:14

well i managed to crack this exe 09/15/2004 but i won't give you the crack coz
this is an old version of halo, you can only play first few lvls and some textures are different.
also there is more in it than the smarteprotectioN :P
since this exe is from the beta version, get yourself the original game and apply latest update....this is only 1.8 version from beta exe, not retail :P
it's like 1.8 beta = 0.9 retail....so plz

DABhand 29-06-2006 21:49

Errr the idea is anything before v1.0 is beta not after.

You have got your stuff mixed up there buddy.

The-S-Owl 30-06-2006 00:29

You are right, Quake. Just look at the timestamps and build numbers.

This exe: 6 August 2003, build 452
Retail v1.0 exe: 5 September 2003, build 564

Delacroix02 30-06-2006 00:31

Well, Quake_Ger, perhaps this OEM demo I have is the same engine version as the beta. But if you cracked this, please DO mail the fix to me at least. And I have the retail legal version besides this OEM so please stop telling me things like that.
