RoFX

I didn't know where else to post this, so in hopes of getting a listening ear, I'll try it here.

RoFX is a simple utility developed by a japanese guy for Ragnarok Online. It's not copyprotected nor a trial version. It's free, but not opensource. The catch is that the developer built an expiratory date into it (should be around 2006/01/30) after which time it simply ceases to function. The original intent of the author was to have a new version released by that time ofcourse. Sadly things happend, and the developer simply disappeared from the internet, which left the rest of the community with this tool including the expiratory date. Ofcourse the user can opt to change his BIOS date in order to circumvent it, but admittedly it's quite inconvenient. So I ask: Is there a way someone could make a patch for this?

It includes an exe as well as a dll version.

If it's possible to patch this, it would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
A RoFX user

Ragnarok is a paid for MMORPG, your obviously using a private server.

The reason why the time limit, is people were using the developers bandwith to get the client and then getting onto private servers.

So no, you wont get help here for it.

This one seems to be on the edge of legality. (If the copyright owners were around, it would definitely be illegal as the decision is up to them. But they've disappeared, the original poster says.) So, is this legal or illegal?

Bandwidth for a 200k sized tool? Yes, it probably created TERABYTES of traffic a day.

err, eitherway it could also count as advertising no? :)

This is a site for backups, not for disabling time limits or similar. We cannot help you with that, so don't make a new thread about this.
