F.e.a.r sound probls

Man, i knew something would be wrong!! i just got FEAR after ive seen it at a friend of mine, and i went home, installed it, and when i doubled clicked the exe its stuck on a black screen, ive tried with different configurations and i manage to get it work by disabling the audio. But huuuge game bugs appear in game, straight from the beggining, wgen u come with that car u know, my AI jumps (yes jumps trough tha door) into that garbage container, and the flame from tha pistol is about 2 inches above the pipe, i mean that is because of the audio is disabled, i dont think so, besides that i need to know how can i make the audio to work, cause i wanna play this game.

My pc:
Barton 2500+
nVidia GF 6800 ultra 128mb 256bits
1gb ram kingston
audio (its some sort af AC97) but i didnt had audio problems with any high end game till now
etc
It there some sort of patch for that issue, i reaaly need o fix for this without buying aa new soundcard
srry for my eng
thx
And yes, i have the latest drivers for every component

The latest patch is the 1.05 patch and weighs in at around 256MB. You should be able to get it from most good patch sites.

fear_update_engb_100-104_105.exe

http://www.softwarepatch.com/games/fear-game-patch.html

I'm not sure if there are language specific versions of the patch though.

Having just checked, the patch may be 401MB, strange that the patch I got was only 256MB !!

Further info, if you want to access the patches on Sierra's ftp site ftp://ftp.sierra.com look in the pub/sierra/fear/updates folder

Aside from the usual fixes (check the VU forums) what os are u using? Once I updated to 1.05 I experiences tons of crashes with audio enabled. Once I switched over to XP from 2k it is working fine. And the 1.05 US version patch is the big one 400+, the UK one is 200+.

Is it a realtek soundcard? If so. Yes get a seperate hardware card. Software soundcards (onboard) arent that great to be honest, they use up valuable system RAM to work. By getting a hardware based sound card it will free up that RAM and work alot nicer. (be sure if you do buy one to disable the onboard soundcard in the BIOS)
