Good excuses from the gamesforums...

I enjoy reading the PC-games forum, both for help and to get a good laugh from users pulling stupid excuses for not having the original disc around.

A classic is the "friend" who borrowed the game to never return it.

Has anyone got any other fine reasons for not having the original at home you would like to share? ;)

I think the best one I have heard is the guy who said his girlfriends big fat arse broke his disc when she sat on it!
Not only did he lose his disc but he probably lost his gf as well. ;)

Haha! That was a good one!

It isnt the original CD (which wasnt his anyway) but the manual.

Remember the guy who wanted to know what key was used for a certain action (if i remember correctly was TR:Legends), but when we said check the manual he had hired the game. And I said go ask to see it where you hired it. "But I would need to take the game back". Yes thats the idea of hiring stuff you have for a certain amount of days and take back.

Well it was funny to me.

Staying on the hiring thought.

There was a guy some months back who wanted a no-cd that much he kept posting about it, grovelling, since he had to take the game back and he wanted to keep playing.

And lets not forget the countless "Im looking for language patches"

You know "Hi im from Germany and I have english game and I want it in German" ... Err why not buy the german version?

Muji-FightR 10-06-2006 11:56

There ARE games that get released in English days or even months before their translated versions.
So it is not always meant in the way 'I downloaded the wrong version, I'm too stupid to get the German warez version' ; there also are people who bought or even imported the English one and would like to enjoy it in their mother tongue...

I bought Quake 4 in English (not only since it came earlier but also because of several restrictions [no blood, ...]).
And I think many people would not buy the game twice because they didnt know it would be released in German some months later ;)

I can't even understand how people can but localized games... Or see dubbed movies for that matter. Like Black&White that was released in ONLY swedish here in sweden.. I went berserk and returned the game and didn't pick it up again until the all languages into english patch was released.

Always original languages for me, even if its mean russian (well not THAT always, but mostly... depends on the game of course).

As for lame excuses I've been through some when dog ate manual, little sister peed on manual, ate the disc and flushed it down the toilet.. or something like that... :p

Oddly enough, when my dog was a pup he in fact ate half of my Dreamcast collection (about 4 games). That is where I actually first got into creating backups of all my non-music disks.
