Stumped! any ideas?
 

hi
chipped a v4 with a duo se chip & cannot boot dvd games or dvd copy films. can boot ps1 & ps2 cdr games, original dvd films & original dvd games (but only if i disable the chip for the games)
chipped over 40 ps2 consoles & never had this fault. changed all the wires & the chip, still n.g any ideas?
ps just noticed if you boot console without disc in the "boot up glowing dot" moves around the screen for approx 10 secs then stops, not sure if older consoles do this

My guess would be its a laser issue. Its harder to read dvd-r media. Have you tried adjusting the pots?

no not yet. all the consoles i have done i have never had to "tweak" the pots, bit wary about it. you might be right all the dvds which don't boot are dvd-

yeah for sure sounds like a laser issue

been searching around & found a few people with the same problems as me with a dou mod chip & a v4 ps2. i am going to try a different chip first before i start "tweaking" the pots. will let you know the outcome.
ps any reliable sellers anywhere?
