Chameleon "crack" ruins the game?!
 

Hi,
i played the game with my cds for a while now, until I saw there was a "crack" available. (=> http://m0004.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_chameleon.shtml )

I applied the files and the game starts normal, but I got some random crashes, graphical & gameplay issues (weapon won't reload :eek: )

I reinstalled the game and used my original discs - and had no problems at all ;)

So my problems have to be linked to the russian unprotected files i think..

What protection does the game use in your country ? Is it version 1.0 ? What language is it ? I've seen lots of russian games come out in other languages with all patches applied, so they rarely are v1.0 anymore. Can you confirm whether your version is 1.0 ?

my game is polish, v1.0, and uses starforce protection system..

Game is published by a polish publisher, so it should be v1.0

the crack you are using is perhaps a foreign exe wrapped with securom/safedisc. the publisher decides to use the starforce virtual file system.
if it´s applied, more files are encrypted like some*.res or bigfiles etc...
this results in the "cracked" exe not working due more protected files.
