Looking For F.E.A.R. Version 1.4, No CD Patch. ;)

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time here and I was hoping that maybe
someone could help me.

I own the full game of F.E.A.R., and have seen the new
F.E.A.R. No DVD Patch for Version 1.04, this is working
for friends of mine who bought the DVD version of the
game, however unfortunately I bought the CD version
of the game.

I hope I am placing this request in the right forums (as
I really do not wish to be banned), I am asking if possible,
would someone be interested in making a No CD patch for
the F.E.A.R. version 1.4, or maybe converting the F.E.A.R.
Version 1.4 No DVD patch into a F.E.A.R. Version 1.4 No CD patch.

Many thanks in advance for anyones help, it would be greatly
appreciated.

To the Moderators, I apologize if I have placed this request in
the wrong forum, I did read the rules and I have also searched
for the file in all of the places you have suggested.

Take Care,

IAMCANADA

Hi,
does the nodvd fail to work with the cd-version?

IAMCANADA 09-05-2006 15:15

Thank You For Your Response.

Hi phil8900,

In answer to your question, unfortunately
the answer is yes, it does not work with the
legally store bought F.E.A.R. CD Version 1.4.

btw, the "nocd" was done with the downloadable activemark version...
but it should work with the cd aswell the dvd version because both are patched to v1.04.

Thank You For Your Response. :-)

Hi cdkiller,

I realize that you have probably been around and
involved much longer then I have, also that you
most likely have more experience using CD patches
then I do.

However as mentioned before, unfortunately I am not
lying, the F.E.A.R. No DVD Patch for Version 1.04, does
not work with the Retail Legally store bought F.E.A.R. CD
Version 1.4.

I have tried the versions available at three different sites,
and also one sent to me by a friend who has the Retail
Legally store bought F.E.A.R. DVD Version 1.4.

Unfortunately none of them have worked, and yes I
understand the concept of how to use one, lucky that I
follow the instructions properly and made a backup copy
of my original exe, that way at least when it didn't work
I was still able to use my CD and play the game with my
friends online.

Thank you very much for the information cdkiller, it is just
unfortunate that it does not work with the CD set.

you can also use a mini image and a securom 7 hider from here

Thank You Again For Your Response "cdkiller". :-)

Hi cdkiller,

I really appreciate your response, thank you for taking the
time to respond cdkiller.

However (please understand, this is just my personal opinion),
I feel that going down that route would seem like an illegal route
for me, I cannot and will not consider using that sort of illegal
route to try and solve my issue.

If I am just using a No CD Patch with legal CD's, all I am doing
at that point is protecting my CD set of Disks, and I do not feel
I am circumventing the law in any way, I have no intention of
breaking the law.

For now I will continue to use my legal disks with the hope that
someone might or may be able to come up with a No CD Patch,
I just worry about scratching my disks and then I would have to
buy the game again, up here in Canada games are not cheap,
quite expensive in fact to tell you the truth.

Again, many thanks to you cdkiller, I really do appreciate your
efforts while trying to help me solve this issue.

Are you reluctant to use a mini image that someone else created? If you read the FAQ and manage to create a full image from your own original CD/DVD that works by mounting it and using some hider tool then I don't think you should feel bad about it. Good luck!

IAMCANADA 10-05-2006 10:56

Thank You For Your Response. :-)

Hi Joe Forster/STA,

Thank you very much for your response Joe Forster/STA,
I really appreciate it.

I really do understand what you are suggesting and I really
do appreciate your input, however I still feel that it would
be blatantly circumventing the law, of which I have no
thoughts of doing.

I will remain patient with the hope that at some point
someone might be able to help me and the F.E.A.R.
Community, by supplying a No CD Patch for this and
future Versions of F.E.A.R. Updates.

Again, many thanks to you Joe Forster/STA, I really do
appreciate your efforts while trying to help me solve this
issue.

I don't get it, you feel bad about using a mini image yet not about using a nocd?

IAMCANADA 11-05-2006 13:11

Thank You For Your Response. :-)

Hi Luciel,

Thank you very much for your response Luciel,
I really appreciate it.

I feel that by using the image rather then just
using a No CD Patch, I am making purposeful
changes to my computer just to circumvent
the protection of the program instead of just
using a No CD Patch.

Hard to explain, however if you bought the
Legally store bought F.E.A.R. CD's. It is your
right to protect those CD's, by making a
backup copy, however if there is no way to
make a backup copy because of the copyright
protection, a No CD Patch is the only way without
going way out of your way to circumvent the law.

If I am just using a No CD Patch with legal CD's,
all I am doing at that point is protecting my CD
set of Disks, and I do not feel I am circumventing
the law in any way, I have no intention of breaking
the law.

I would like to say thank you very much to the three
Moderators (cdkiller, Joe Forster/STA, & Luciel) who
have responded to my post, since this is my first time
posting here, I am very impressed with how I have
been treated so far.

They have treated me with courtesy, patience,
and respect, I am very grateful to all of you for
the way I have been treated so far, thank you
all very much again for this treatment, it is
greatly appreciated.

If you were located in the country to your south, it's the nocd's that would be legally dubious since I'm pretty sure that they clash with the DMCA. Compared to that, there's not really a legal argument against making an image for your own use, or making a straight burned copy (clone or not), once again as long as it's for your own use. So if you're worried about the legality, images are a better bet (as long as you own the original ofcourse)
