Condemned - Fixed Exe Problem

Hi,

I have a problem with CONDEMNED and the fixed Exe from GCW: After installing the game and copying the fixed exe over the original exe, condemned crashes after starting and my pc reboots.

Does someone has the same or a similar problem?

Thanx for help!

Does it start without the crack (and with the original cd) ?

TheBurns 08-05-2006 01:21

Yes, the Original does start.

I've got nothing to back this assumption up, but it seems like another no-cd patch in an increasing number of poorly made no-cd cracks. With the proliferation of mini-images these days, I'm wondering if crackers are getting lazier and releasing their first version of a crack, rather than taking some extra time to really test it out to see if it works.

This no-cd patch for Condemned works for me, but the last three I tried for other games either don't work at all, or introduce crashes in-game. The last non-working one I tried was for Tomb Raider Legend. The game starts fine, but it crashes virtually any time you try and use Lara's grappling magnet. Using the original CD removes these crashes, so it's obviously a product of the patch.

Well, i don't want to start a debatte on quality of fixed exes.

Anyway, interesting, that the exe works for you - an the one from Tomb Raider Legend for me. Seems, if the working of fixed exes depends on concrete conditions of the system.

Exactly; there may be a lot of circumstances that make the crack work on one system but not on another. And the more complicated the copy protection is, the more such ciscumstances may exist.

I have no idea how many PC's professional crackers test their releases on but, yeah, a bit of more quality assurances would be welcome. However, who are we, users of freebies, to complain? ;)

TheBurns 08-05-2006 03:10

I agree, as the cracks are all for free.

Anyone other with solutions for my problem or similar problems?

Hi,
that the trl-crack crashed was because of not having cracked a securom-trigger.
the repack works just fine!

TheBurns 08-05-2006 04:08

And where can I get the "repack"?

noscript 08-05-2006 06:31

from gamecopyworld ;)

TheBurns 08-05-2006 06:33

Very funny. There is just one crack at gcw - and this is the one, which doesnt work for me.

The repack phil8900 is talking about, is the Tomb Raider Legend v1.1 one. Thats the game Yummy Sprinkles has problems with.
For Condemned there exists no repack as far as I know, and it mustn't cos the one From GCW should work. If not: it's not the crack (but system).

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up on that one.

In defence of the crackers, Securom triggers can be a real pain in the butt to crack. The big problem is finding them all, since they're often spread throughout the game and trigger based on complex conditions. You can hardly expect a cracker to play five times through a game just to be sure he gets them all. It seems like most of the time when another trigger is found, they're very fast to bring out a fixed version. I'll expect the cracks to be 100% bugfree as soon as the game developers can do the same for the initial game release :D
