I am a class action attorney in the United States (Chicago, Illinois, to be precise). I am investigating StarForce's DRM practices. (I am involved in one of the class actions currently pending against Sony BMG/Arista Entertainment regarding the use of XCP2 and MediaMax copy protection.) At the present, I am looking to speak with witnesses whose computers were harmed or damaged after installing a game with StarForce encoded on it. Think i should post that on the forum? Not any real damage, but it might still count. Note how long it has taken to get ANY response at all their. :D

XdaywalkerX 24-03-2006 14:04

Trackmania Nations is not protected by starforce or any other protection - it should be another problem. :D

Panda Man 24-03-2006 16:03

ughh... come again!? Are you serious? if so, then yes, it is in fact protected by StarForce 3.6.

The game isn't "really" free, as it is still infested by Starforce. It seems that publishers want to avoid any kind of reverse engineering which could lead to use the TM Nations exe with TM Sunrise (as it happened with Brothers In Arms). Indeed they claim SF is also useful to protect game servers from cheaters.
Anyway, RELOADED recently cracked Blitzkrieg 2 & Chrome Specforce (Check NFOrce for details), maybe they're not so far from completely defeating SF. ;)

Panda Man 25-03-2006 07:45

that doesn't say ANYTHING about there not being starforce. And I had no other starforce protected games. Just because a game is free doesn't mean its not protected.

Have you installed TM Nations yet? if not, do it and see if you get infected.

acal3000 25-03-2006 08:06

I am already infected with POP T2T anyway

i can confirm your sig on ToCA 3, i got it to work by simply blocking my cd-drive in my BIOS by setting my SATA HDD to primary slave, where my IDE cd-drive is located :D. And StarForce 3.7 is out!? when did that happen?

meh, its pretty good, considering its free. It wouldn't be worth buying if it was for sale though, less it was only $10.
