Doom 3 - 'wrong game DLL API version' error
 
Installed the game, then installed the expansion which updated the game to v1.2. Now I get this error when the game is trying to start. 'wrong game DLL API version' How can I fix this.

I have tried the FFF fix trainer and mini images...

Re-install the game, re-apply the patch, contact the publisher, in this order. ;)

It means that the DLL has the wrong version of the API. ;) Seriously, the two parts of the game engine don't fit together because they're of different versions. (Not that this answer would help you much anyway... ;))

Just to make sure, is this the no-cd crack I should be using for v1.3? because it says win98...thanks (I am on xp)

1) Download the no-CD patch and apply the Windows 98/ME fix onto it, OR 2) download the Windows 98/ME fixed no-CD patch right away. ;)

um yeah i got the same thing as this sam kid when i start up doom 3 it comes up with the "ERROR: wrong game DLL API version" and when i installed the game update it fucked up the graphics in the game, im i dont know if it has something to do with the fact that im running on vista or if its something els. also it keeps trying to run on openGL when it should run on DirectX. so i dont know what to do:(

Read this thread from the beginning! (For the latest patch, you need no no-DVD patch as the copy protection has been removed from it.)

no, it shouldn't. it's an opengl game and it will run only on opengl..

i get a similar message about dll api version being wrong when i try to run dentons mod (pretty much a mod to make it run/look better/more realistic)

so any ideas how to fix it lol

you should download new version of net framework and direct x from Microsoft your dll failed problem should be fixed ...
