Making a backup, cant seem to do it.

I recently got a used copy of Jade Cocoon for the PS1 and Jade Cocoon 2 for the PS2 and want to make a cd image backup that I will both burn to a single DVD+R. I had no problem backing up JC1 using CDRwin. But I wasnt too sure what program to use for JC2, being a DVD game. I tried to see if CDRWIN would work but it didnt appear to recognize the disk. I didnt want to use Alcohol 120% since it rips to a propitery format and I wanted it in iso or bin/cue format but I didnt seem to have much of a choice.

However, when I put the disk in it warned me that the disk is copy protected and might not be copied correctly.

I tried Nero but I couldent find any option to rip it to an image file, just options to make a copy, plus it also seems ot rip to a propitery format, nrg.

I looked all around this forum but while there were guides for just about everything including burning a backup, I coudlent find one for making a backup. And while people claim that PS2 games dont have any copy protections other than that small unburnable part, some claimed some games have something called FADE which slowly disables parts of the game as you play if it detects itself being a copy.

Anyway, whats a good way/program to backup my Jade Cocoon 2? Preferably in BIN/CUE format is possible.

Why dont you use dvd decrypter and just make a direct backup. Why do you want a bin/cue file if you are planing to burn back to DVD+r anyway? Are you planing on applying a patch or trainer ??

Iso and Bin/Cue are very standard formats, much easier to work with and re-burn than the other formats, but ive heard that attempting an ISO instead of a BIN can sometimes lose some of the formatting information.

I agree Dvd decrypter is the best way to make a back up .. I triede other softwares and they simply dont measure up with DVD decrypter.
so give it a try i know its gonna work ;)

Thats a bunch of crap, Nothing wrong with creating and burning from ISO.

For simpler copy protections on a PC, using CDRWin's BIN+CUE format might be enough to contain or duplicate the copy protection, unlike the ISO format, which contains the plain sector contents, no lower-level data. But this is not true anymore for more complicated PC copy protections and it may not be true for PS2 titles either. (I'm a PS2 newbie. ;))

For CD's I use Cdrwin but when making a Copy of a Copy I use Clone CD..
As for DVD's I use Record now max.
Try it, since your already using CDrwin try Clone Cd..
