X2 Pro

My brother as given me his xbox to chip for him V1.3/1.4 (Xbox identifier says 1.4, on inspection looks like a 1.3) him being a skin flint wont pay for a X3.
I have a X2Pro but when i have instaled it i get the flashing light thing.
The X2Pro came out of my V1.0 in working condition.
Is it possible for that the flash as gone corrupt?
or
DO you get the 3 flashing lights because the chip is incompatible with the Xbox??

Chip should work and the bios should not be any problem. make sure it is correctly installed. look carefully at the D0 point and make sure it really has proper contact. check all solders and so on.

The bios could be the problem if it was an old bios. There are a few versions of the X2 pro, do you know which one you have?

Well the bios should not be a problem atleast... Of course it could be if it is reeeeeaally old but I doubt it is THAT old.

You never know man... it sure could be old. If it still works in the V1.0 maybe put it back in and flash it with the most resent X2 bios.

suggy 20-02-2006 13:31

probabley about 4 year old. Came out of my V1.0.
Will try putting back in V1.0 and reflash.
Whot is the latest X2 bios

kosmiq 20-02-2006 13:53

I am not sure how big the flashrom is on the X2Pro but the latest X2 bios is 5035, atleast it was the last time I checked, could be 5037 or some too of course. But you can only use that one if you have 512kb's banks or bigger.

If you happen to have 256kb banks you should either iND 5003 bios (has some bugs but I like it) or X2 4981 (almost the same as 4983 but you can config it).

Yeah a 4 year old bios would surely be the problem.

suggy 20-02-2006 15:58

Ok put x2 pro back in v1.0 and flashed with 5035 all ok.
Put back in V1.3/1.4 and getting flashing ring?

All solder points look ok. I think the do point is in the right place?
Any 1 got a link to a picture (bottom please)

kosmiq 20-02-2006 16:47

should be like installing any other chip on the same version of xbox.

Anyway I find a pretty decent step by step you can control against here:

Wire Install for X-ecuter2.0/2.1/2.2/2.3 Lite & Pro v0.21
http://xbox-scene.com/modchips/x-ecu..._diagrams.html

HeaderPin Install for X-ecuter2.0/2.1/2.2/v2.3 Lite & Pro v0.21
http://xbox-scene.com/modchips/x-ecu..._diagrams.html

also a few questions about the behaviour you are getting. When the chip is installed can you boot with the chip off and get into MSDash or are you still getting fragging?

It flashes between red, green and orange right?

suggy 20-02-2006 16:58

OK first paragraph says for a v1.3+ you need a X2.2pro?
Mine is only a X2.0.
So i gess thay are incompatible.
Have fitted my X3 so i know all tha solder pionts are ok.

Cannot boot to X3 setup? if my memory sevres me well you have to press and hold the white button?
Have tryed this and its no go?
If i am doing this wrong can some one tell me how?

suggy 22-02-2006 13:14

Used genuine ms pad and press white button when booting, boots to X3 mod chip.
Use 3rd party pad and press white button when booting, wont boot to X3 dash?
