How to backup Empire at War
Hi folks!
This REALLY works for me. All you need is the newest Alcohol 120% and an Empty DVD R+(don`t know, if this is really important...). You have to turn the RMPS Emulation ON (Alcohol Emulation Options). Then read the original Disk with Alcohol, use HIGH DPM (1X speed) You MUST use a DPM capable Drive (in my case, it was the DVD DL-Burner, NOT the "normal" DVD drive) If everything went ok, just burn the image on a 4,7 GB DVD (+ works, don't know if -, too) WITH "RMPS". The newly created disc has to appear with the real name, and not with the label "NEEDS EMULATION". If so, you have forgotten to enabe RMPS in Alcohol. OK, just remeber, that this backup procedure worked very well. Now I can play and keep my original disk scratch-free ;) Try it out and post, if it works for you as well! Cheers, Thomas Posso |
I don't think there's new information in it. Extract RMPS information from the original, burn it as extra onto the backup and have an RMPS-compatible virtual CD/DVD emulator (this included Daemon Tools, as well, not only Alcohol 120%) running while using the backup.

How to burn WITH RMPS
I followed you directions on how to make a backup copy your SW Empire at War, but i was wondering how do you choose to burn WITH RMPS? I have checked of the box in the emulation settings, which features RMPS, but is this enough?
Hope you can help me:O) |
I think, yes. (I've done this only once, with a Safedisc-protected language education CD, for which there was no no-CD patch, so I don't really remember.) Try it with a re-writable CD/DVD first so that you spare some coasters. ;)

Too late:O)
Heh, i already did try and burn a DVD, and the result was as feared: I now have a new coaster :O) Although it did not complain over emulation software being detected, it complained that no original cd was detected... So it did not work. Any ideas where i stumpled? I activated RMPS, made an image file of the original DVD while reading at 1x speed. Burned it out on a DVD. And had the problem.... Any ideas?
