Matrix Infinity 1.75 Settings Explinations
I have a US NTSC PS2.
Ok, after spending hours trying to correctly Y-position and NTSC patch a PAL game because my chip apaprnetly wasnt making the game play correctly in NTSC mode... I found out that the mode IS there.... just disabled by default. >.< Anyway, I also found out that I had the older 1.68 firmware, so I upgraded it to the new 1.75 firmware. I have a few questions about this firmware, as the included readme dosent really cover everything. I incuded the readme in this post: Code:
=======================Would setting this to PAL60 have any effect on my NTSC games? Could the colors/video rate/y-positioning become changed? Or does the chip only alter the video mode if it detects the game is in PAL format? I would want to leave it at PAL60 with Y-Position set on AUTO so I can just auto boot a NTSC or PAL game, but if it will interfere with my NTSC games as well I can just leave it to OFF and manually change it when I need to play a PAL game. Also, the next slew of features, PSX SCREEN FIX, PSX MULTI DISK, MC16 PATCH, ATAD AUTO PATCH. It just says that I can turn them on or off, but WHAT exactly do these features do? I have no idea what they mean by PSX screen fix, and im assuming that PSX Multi Disk means support for ps1 games that are more than one disk, but if thats true why would this option be off by default? Does enabling it cause some other side-effects? MC16 I assume is some 3rd party nonstandard "large" memorycard that Datel made, and ive never even hard of ATAD. MACROVISION FIX I assume disables macrovision when playing a DVD movie. GREEN FIX..... no idea, I heard it had something to do with playing a NTSC dvd on a PAL tv? I dunno. DVDVIDEO REGION this one I understand. DVD9 DL SUPPORT this one also confuses me. I know what a Dual-layer DVD-9 disk is. But like the PSX MULTI DISK feature, I am confused why this is off by default, are there any sideeffects to leaving this enabled? Or is this only for burned dual layer media? I tried my original Xenosaga1 with this setting OFF and it ran fine. Would having this off mean the PS2 cant read into the second layer? What about when playing a dual-layer DVD movie instead of a game? The last three options, BOOT MODE, PAD DETECT TIME and BOOT LOGO I understand, although one quick question, why make the chip wait till it can detect a controller inserted before booting? Yes, I know, I asked a LOT of questions. |

---> When you connect your ps2 to your Tv using a RGB/SCART cable and insert a DVD, the movie will look green, this simply removes it No need to enable it though when using non SCART cables DVD9 DL SUPPORT --> Normally copying a DVD9 media like Gran Turismo 4 or Xenosaga I is doable although your ps2 might not recognize the disc or only play layer 0 The reason you can play Xenosaga with this option off is because the data being read was on the first layer, but as soon as you come accross a passage that needs data form the second layer your ps2 will show a black screen and then go to the Memory Card Menu PSX MULTI DISK --> Enables you to be able to play Ps1 games that require disc changing (some games have an option to save before changing the disc, some don't, like Metal Gear) ... or wait does that mean does discs that have several games all in one? (someone please correct me if I am wrong) MC16 PATCH --> Allows you to use unofficial Datel or other third-party-programmer non-standard Memory Cards (like 16,32 or even 64 MB) ATAD AUTO PATCH --> This is used for Harddisk Games involving HDLoader/HDAdvance (some games like Resident Evil cannot be copied to a harddisk without this option on) This also allows you to play some games online using a modchip IIRC (What it does, is patching on-the-fly a file called ATAD.IRX on your CD/DVD) For the other questions I dont know as I have a PAL Ps2 |
