NTSC to PAL

I have a SCPH-50003 black PAL PS2 and was wondering if I could play PS2 NTSC games on it WITHOUT chipping is.

barkroc2 07-01-2006 07:28

dont believe so

lufcfan 07-01-2006 07:51

Nope. You're gonna need it modding mate. :)

Tyrantix 08-01-2006 01:19

That's a shame:(
Which chip would you recommend then?
Is it easy to install a chip? because I don't want to damage my PS2.:D

lufcfan 08-01-2006 06:47

I'd recommend either a Matrix Infinity, or a Crystal CC1.1.

For a budget option, you can't beat a Duo2. But personally, for me it'd be a Matrix or a Crystal.

If you need one fitting, see my sig. (I'm in W.Yorks) :)

P.S. Fitting ISNT easy. What is the SCPH number of your console?

Older model right?

You could create a memory card exploit and just backup and patch your game. I don't think anybody would tell you here to do that though, mod chip this modchip that:eek:

You need a thumb drive, memory card, original psx game, do a search for PS2 memory card exploit and get the generic ntcs->pal patcher from somewhere...

Everyone here will just tell you modchip though, I think because they sell and install them, just my opinion :D

There are other options, this forum doesn't talk about them, shhhhh!

You must be rather tech savvy to do this mind you, but your warranty will still be intact

The reason we recommend them is because they are simply the best solution...

Exactly right.

If I'm not mistaken, NTSC<->PAL fixing and, in general, overcoming regional restrictions was the reason why Australia recently sentenced modchips to be legal.

lufcfan 09-01-2006 10:32

*sigh* if only the UK courts and legal system had a single ounce of common sense like the Italians, Spanish and now it seems Australians :(

SimpleSnake 09-01-2006 14:42

no, no, no, no, no...... well yes

I'm just saying, that's not the case
And isn't that skating on thin ice of one of the forum rules?

What's legal in one country and then another changes all the time, I remember when I could smoke in bars, not anymore though.

Only a few chips have a bios to update, I'd rather patch my exploit files

Pretty much all new chips to the market now ship blank and are software upgradable - and only boot backups with hacked BIOSes. In countries where mods are questionable, they only become illegal to fit, if the installer flashes the hacked software to the chip...

Have CC1.1, WF 19h BM 1.8
When i put a NTSC disk in (Action Replay) i get a sort of zig zag lines going down screen?
Tryed different settings in Bm with no diference?

I think the CC1.1, FW 19h, Bm 1.8 as the fix but unsure?

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Thanks Suggy

Question for the boss

Does that mean then I can list information for people to contact me via PM in my signature to inquire about having the exploit files installed on their memory card then?

lufcfan 10-01-2006 02:26

go to Boot Manager, then go into Configuration, PS2 Games, and in there are the force settings for NTSC > Conversion... :)
