another question about my broken ps2
 

this might be a long shot but would anyone know if a slightly damaged silver ribbon attached to the eject buttons of a ps2 could cause strange behavior?

my ribbon has a couple dents and creases in it and i think that may be the reason it won't close right.. :mad: i hope the ps3 hardware is not as bad as this

It is possible for a damaged ribbon cable to affect the tray eject. With out having it in hand its hard to say but it is possible.

Why don't you try getting a new ribbon cable for the eject button? Those are pretty cheap.
