Age of Empires (All Empire Games on One DVD)

I have created a Custom Install Menu to put all the Age of Empire games onto one DVD. You can read the conversion and download the Custom Installer from cd-2-dvd.com.

Games included are:
Age of Empires
Age of Empires The Rise of Rome Expansion
Age of Empires 2 The Age of Kings
Age of Empires The Conquerors Expansion
Age of Empires 3

MY Problem is that i cannot copy the complete Content of CD1 the tem0001 and 0002 wont copy

Grumpy 22-12-2005 04:54

Hmmm, these files are part of the 'smarte' protection. I dont know why they wont copy to the hardrive though?
Try and do just the Age of Empires 3 conversion on its own and see if it will install from the converted DVD. (Use a DVD-RW)
If it installs ok then you wont need the files on the DVD as you wont be using the DVD to play anyway so hopefully those files wont even be needed.
Let me know how it goes.

@RavenClaw: You can try to make an image of the cd/dvd and then extract the file with IsoBuster.

I would still be curious to know why these files wont simply copy to the hardrive from the CD/DVD? I had no problems with them.
And 'Ravenclaw' is the second person I have come accross with this problem?

File problem

Can anyone tell me what the file 00002.tmp on disk one of AOE3 is for? I was trying to copy the files over to my hard drive to burn to a DVD but for some reason that one file (which is only like 46kb) keeps giving me an error saying the disk can't be read. All the other files copy just fine but that one will not copy. I've tried dragging and dropping, copying and pasting and nothing. Any ideas on what this file does, why it won't copy and if it's even necessary? Please help!! Sorry I see this had already been asked... I'm an idiot. Has anyone found out anything more about this?

Grumpy 21-01-2006 03:36

Like I have said before "these files are part of the 'smarte' protection."
You can still do the conversion without that file, it is not needed as you will be using a NoCD crack to actually play. ;)

Different Problems...

Ok... I moved everything onto my harddrive and did a test from there. Everything loaded just fine and I was able to patch, crack and play. So I figured it would burn just fine. I used Nero to burn and it said it finished successfully but when I uninstalled the original install to test the DVD install it won't work. It gets to a point in the install from the DVD where it says it can't read a file. I'm completely puzzled as to why it loaded fine from the hard drive but not from the burned DVD. Any thoughts on this? One thing I didn't do was unzip all of the disk 1, disk 2 and disk 3 compressed files. I noticed that the crack method on GCW says to just burn these onto the DVD as is with their installer crack in place. Does it work better to unzip all of these and burn them that way or does that screw things up?

just be patient & wait for the cd-2-dvd to come back online, then you should be able to get the file
