Post Date: 27-08-2005 1) Create a Temp folder on your harddrive. Name this folder: BF2 CD 1. This will be the name (Label) of our DVD. 2) Copy all the contents from CD1 to the Temp folder. 3) From CD2 copy only the ‘data3.cab’ file to the same Temp folder. 4) From CD3 copy only the ‘data4.cab’ file to the same Temp folder. 5) Create another folder/s for any Updates, Serial, Patches and or Cracks etc. NOTE: Name this/these folder/s whatever you want. 6) Burn the contents of the Temp folder to a DVD with the Label: BF2 CD 1 NOTE: If you want to label the DVD to something different like ‘BF2 DVD’ then you will need to edit the Autorun.inf file! Using the Notepad, open the Autorun.inf file and add the following 2 lines: Name=BF2 DVD Label=BF2 DVD The Autorun.inf file should now look like this: [autorun] icon=BF2.ico open=Autorun.exe Name=BF2 DVD Label=BF2 DVD Now you can burn the DVD using the label: BF2 DVD |

Very useful info here. :)
I successfully made a backup DVD of the BF2:Special Forces expansion pack. I download it originally the day of release and had been wanting to make a hard copy backup. I copied all the files from the BF2:Special Forces folder that was created by the EA Downloader after installation to a temp directory. I then followed the directions you gave above for BF2. I edited the autorun.ini and added these lines: NAME=BF2 SPECIAL FORCES LABEL=BF2 SPECIAL FORECS My ini looked like this: [autorun] icon=bf2xp1.ico open=Autorun.exe NAME=BF2 SPECIAL FORCES LABEL=BF2 SPECIAL FORCES I then set the label of my DVD to match that of above and burned the files. I did test both the BF2 and Expansion pack DVD's after burning. I completely uninstalled and removed the directories and reinstalled via the new DVD's without a hitch. You do however have to use the original cd1 from BF2 to play though. I purchased BF2 on release day and didnt have a DVD burner at the time, so swapping out CD's sucked whenever I had to reinstall. CoD2, I did have the DVD burner then, but a local store had the CD version on sale for $24.99 so I bought that one. Going to try to burn CoD2 now onto one disc via the info from these forums. Thanks again. Preston |

@Speedboy
There is a conversion and Custom Install Menu, for the four games, on cd-2-dvd.com. You will need to register to use the site, its free, and you will find many other useful conversions and Custom Install Menus there. ;) |
Thx
THX Grumpy and the conversions are great genial.
