Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords (KOTOR2)

1st) create a folder on your hard disk
2nd) copy the whole content of CD1 into this folder
3rd) copy all the *.cab files from CD2, CD3, and CD4 into this folder
4th) (optional) create a folder 'Crack' inside your folder and place the nocd-crack inside (is on gcw right now)
5th) Now burn the content of this folder on a DVD labeled 'Disk1'

If the setup program asks for CD1 at the end of the installation, just press ok.

(This was tested with the German version of KotOR II).

The method posted by schlaufer above does work as it did with KOTOR 1 but they have changed the setup for KOTOR2. Now you don't need to change the autorun.inf file but you get a disc prompt at the end of the setup. There is no way I've found to disable it as it's part of the setup. There may be a way to disable the disk prompt using a hex editor and changing the setup.inx file. I didn't waste too much time on it. I just changed the text on the disk prompt dialog to say "Setup is complete, click OK to finish". This can be done by extracting the StringTable-0009-English.ips file from the setup cabs, editing it, then repacking it. The text to edit is on line 56, just look for the text you want to change. For other languages you'll need to find the string file for your language. If you don't know how to extract and repack files in Installshield cabs, read this post.

For a cracked setup, just replace the swkotor2.exe on the root of the disc with the cracked file. You should always save a backup of the original file somewhere.

To remove the CD nag towards the installer end:

Download this tool:

Source:

Copy the setup.inx from CD1 to this program and run it.

Hex edit the output 'setup.inx.dec':
2100
1D01 (EnterDisk) --> E000 (FeatureIsItemSelected)
0200
0497FF
0609

Rename 'setup.inx.dec' --> 'setup.inx'

Burn to disc.
Tested and working.

you seen to understand the HEX so can you help me to Explain better what I did was

1. I download isx_decrypt and Unpack to Desktop

then it say "Copy the setup.inx from CD1 to this program and run it."

2. I have done that

3. I load Hex Editor XVI32 v2.51 then I select File -> Open select setup.dec.inx

Done! no problem But then it say

Hex edit the output 'setup.inx.dec'

2100
1D01 (EnterDisk) --> E000 (FeatureIsItemSelected)
0200
0497FF
0609

Help me what do I do????

voodoo_nbgd 19-10-2008 14:01

You have to find 2100 1D01 0200 sequence and replace it with 2100 E000 0200.

Here, download my edited setup.inx if you find hex-editing too difficult.

A Big Thump Up Thank you :):):)

Crazzyy 27-12-2008 02:26

does this also work with KOTOR 1 ?

lukas1412 24-07-2011 16:11

hi

you have someone still the isx_decrypt ?
here is already dead

pakrat2k2 26-07-2011 20:49

its no longer available.. googled lots of pages in russian ( all links to it were dead )

just follow the instructions in post #1 EXCEPT for #5

The DVD LABEL can by anything you want... AND the entire temp folder with all content
from 4 cds is only ~2.5GB.. Lots of room for crack & update ( from GCW )

YES the prompt for cd1 comes up at the end but just clicking OK, gets to end of install without issue. ( I had to change the autorun.inf to run setup.exe NOT autorun.exe as it keeps saying wrong cd inserted. But by running setup.exe game install starts right away )

I cannot promise any response but I have emailed 'retro_codger' regarding the files. We will just have to wait and see if he responds to my mail.

I will attatch them to this thread if he does send them to me.

I'm afraid thats the best I can do at this stage. :)
