I'm building a new highend system and I need a good DVD Burner.
 

Whats a good newer DVD burner to buy for the system that has a good firmware hack available?

Theres an old saying "If it aint broke... dont fix it"


But wait a while, it wont be long before BlueRay is about :P

Blueray might be a future option when the price, availability, and compatability meet my needs, but for now a DVD-R/+R burner is what I'm in the market for not something that has a shot in the dark at being the next generations BIG standard.
Who said anything was broke? You must be thinking of someone else's post and layed that xxxx comment down here. Did you even read my post though before you when off into the BLUE?

Im talking about firmware..

Dont update firmware if it doesnt need it. If the drive works for you 100% then dont update it, cause it may not be working after it.

Why you acting like a 5yo, I tried to answer your 2nd post, to show there was confusion.


And I did answer you, wait till Blue Ray appears. The drives wont be expensive and they will support DVD-+/r/rw.


If you cant wait, Pioneer 110 is a good drive, or the latest LG which also supports DVD-ram discs.


Again read whats being said, and dont act like a child when I tried to clear things up.

O.K., sorry, that was a bit harsh, but why did you try to change the subject in the first place? I'll keep the P 110 in mind. I beleive some burners have firmware hacks (3rd party most likly) that can be very usefull for certain backup purposes.

Thats true, but dont delve into the firmware hacks when you get your drive, try it out first.

3rd Party, even some manufacturer, firmwares could potentially ruin your drive.


Ive had cases at my shop, where people bought a writer from me, took it home came back a few days later complaining it never worked, offcourse they flashed the firmware and ended up with a less than working drive (when the drive not flashed worked great).

Soon as you flash the drive, you invalidate your warranty.

I not worried about it and never said I was, after all a good firmware hack is the main reason for me to get the right drive I'm seeking.
