Network/internet problems! HELP!
 

So it goes a little suck like this:

For 3 weeks my network/internet connection is a mess. it keeps throwin off me of the net, my messangers keep disconnectin every 2 minutes and my supposedly 1700kbps network slowed down to 120. I have university internet in the dorm, but my sysop can't do anything about this, so he says anyways. I tried everythin, network monitor, troubleshooter ****, asking around and I came here finally, probably you guys can help.
There is another strange thing. Sometimes it gets me disconnected saying a cable is unlugged. Then when I disable the connection on the control panel and re-enable it, it works again.

Any ideas?

Probably a lame reply mate, but have you tried system restore? Roll it back to say a month ago and try that, had this problem before I THINK and i think that is how i overcame it, somehow i'd managed to upset my settings etc

Or college ISP was doing maintenance in your area/server. And somehow you got caught up in it.


First port of call should be your sysop. Get them to come and out and check the line etc. That is your right, since your paying for a subscription and in a contract with them (i.e fees) , and they have to provide that service.

Are you, or anyone else on the network, using bittorrent when the disconnects happen?
