Can't get rid of virtual device
Okay I've used Daemon and Alcohol before a lot. Now I keep getting this virtual drive that's mounting an image, and everytime i remove it, it comes back when i restart. I deleted all the entries in regedit, and removed them and all SCSI/RAID controllers with the hardware manager, i also uninstalled Daemon and Alcohol (which, won't install now, says there's a conflict with another device). Can someone help?
Also, it used to be two different drives, using the same image, but I got it down to one now. |
One cause of virtual drives not dissapearing is when you uninstall one of the programs whilst you still have a mini image (or full image) mounted! That is the reason why you cannot reinstall it! It is conflicting with the virtual drive which is still there.
Go to the Alcohol Soft knowledge base (help page) they have a fix listed there for your problem. I dont know the link of hand but you should of tried there even before you posted your question here. ;) |
How do i remove the virtual drives
Q:- I uninstalled Alcohol but the virtual drives remain, how do i remove them? A:- Go to control panels/system/hardware/device manager, find under "SCSI and RAID controllers" the Alcohol* SCSI controller, and remove it. All Alcohol drives will disappear. Normally this happens automatically when you uninstall alcohol, unless at the uninstallation time you still had some image mounted. You will Also need to remove Plug and Play Bios Extension from System Devices. and if needed the Virtual Drive Drivers from the Windows/System32/Drivers Folder. * Name of the Virtual Drive Driver varies from version to Version. |
