At the first moment i thougt "wtf are you talking about". And then I had to laugh loudly.

If changing res or refresh rate dont work it is most likely the memory on your graphics card that is at fault. I had this happen to 1 of mine, at 1st it happened only in 1 game that the main screen was like this, any other windows on screen were fine. It eventually spread to other games and i had no option but to buy another card :(

glenbo 30-10-2005 16:49

are you using softmod drivers by any chance, cos that can produce something simular

A fix for anyone who is lagging in cod 2

Ok I had a simliar problem when I first got cod 2 also. My pc isent the greatest, and I only have a 64mb graphics card too,.. When I first got the game I was lagging like crazy. I found a fix for that here it is .. Once you go into the game you will be in the main menu, go to "options" and "graphics" then got to "rendering method prefence" and change it to direct x 7. You see if you dont have a great pc you will lag. just follow the directions I said and you wont have any lag issue anymore. If that doesent work after you change rendering method prefernce to direct x 7 then go to "texture setting" on the bottom and then click "texture quality" and make all the options low. If you do this as I explained you wont have any more lag issue. Worst comes to worst do all I said above but also go to my computer right click propertys and then go to advanced tab and click settings under the performance . Then youll be in performance option and click adjust for best performance. But only do that If you really have to I dident have to do that but I did have to change rendering method prefernce to direct x 7. Any questions email me [email protected] or pm with a messenger service so we can chat

Thank you ! putting "rendering method prefence" to dx7 fixed it :)

knghtlover123 01-11-2005 20:28

no problem anytime anything else i can help u or any 1 with

DABhand 02-11-2005 02:15

Do remember you lose out on a lot for using dx7 rendering methods..

BarryB 02-11-2005 05:21

The rendering method should be set to reflect the DirectX capability of your card.

DX9 compatible cards start at Nvidia FX5200 and above and ATI 9500 and above!

Rather then make a new thread regarding a different CoD2 error..i'll just post here.

I am up to the demo level (in the full game) and everytime i load..it crashes and resets the pc. Playing in safe mode is fine..it just seems to be when i change Direct X from 7 to 9. Strange thing is it was fine up until the demo level started.

I have had no problems with any other games :/

Specs are (if needed):

3gig P4
2x512meg of Ram
128meg 9600xt.

Running XP prof.

knghtlover123 04-11-2005 19:00

your right if you set it to 7 direct x you will lose alot of quality but at least you will be able to play the game ig your pc is not powerfull enough you wont beable to play at all on direct x 9
