Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2K6 problem
 

Greetings...

I recently bought this game and it installs just fine. However, when I try to play it - it brings up the logo screen, then just sits there. Ultimately it says "this program is not responding". I have disabled virus protection during the install, and I've un-installed and re-installed multiple times. I've cleaned the disc, and made sure I have up to date video card drivers.

I decided to take the game to a friends PC to see if the game might just be a dud. It runs perfectly on his machine. I'll list my computer specs below so you can see what I'm running.

1.5 ghtz AMD Sempron
640 megs ram
GeForce FX 5200 256 video ram
Direct X 9.0c
Win XP Pro

I do have two cd drives, one being a CDRW and I'ved installed and tried to play from both. This is the first game I've had problems with... I've got "The Sims 2" and it works just fine. Any idea what could be causing my problem? I've searched the EA tech site and I'm at a loss as to what could be the problem. Thanks in advance for any help!

I figured I would give folks a quick update on my situation. After sending an email to EA about my problem, they told me to update my video drivers (which I had already done) and that if I had anymore problems to search their tech site for answers (which I have done & am doing now). Oh well. I guess my PC just hates that game. It hates me as well... so that might explain it. lol

You could try Filemon and Regmon from http://www.sysinternals.com to see what files and registry entries the game tries to access when it "sits idle"... Perhaps, it crashes when trying to play the intro videos...?

Could be the protection is trying to read your disc but the cdrom isnt doing it well, and seems to freeze the PC while its working.

Same problem here, LGLW60 notebook, .exe throws up the title splash, disc 'reads' a number of times then stops, no further progress.

I have the same problem to, the logo splash and the windows magic error box pop-up

i have that problem with the mini image on gcw but not the actual game :P

People - still need help!!! Is there a solution for this problem?

Maybe it's smth wrong with an exe file, people help please, i don't know what to do :confused:

I don't want to brake any rules, i just want to find the right solution for this problem: reinstalling the game didn't help, mini-image from gcw isn't working - the game demands to insert the right disc
