Football Manager 2006 6.0.1 Working Solution!

For this you require:

Alcohol 120% 1.9.5 (Build 3105)
Anti-Blaxx 1.17
Football Manager 2006 CD-ROM
Official Football Manager 6.0.1 patch

Install Football Manager 2006. On the desktop, right click the FM shortcut and specify NT4 Service Pack 5 Compatibility Mode. Now apply the Official 6.0.1 patch.

Install Alcohol 120% and using your FM 2006 CD-ROM create a full image. Create the Image in a folder called C:\Football Manager Image for example.

Install Anti-Blaxx and configure the fields as necessary:

Alcohol 120% - C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\Alcohol.exe
Protection - SecuROM 5
Game: C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\fm.exe
Tick to enable: "Mount Image"
Device: 0
Image: C:\Football Manager Image\fm2006.mds

Now click on Close, remove your real FM 2006 CD-ROM then reboot your machine. Once your machine has rebooted, go into My Computer. You should see your FM 2006 Virtual CD.

Now double click your Football Manager 2006 shortcut. Football Manager should consistently work and not crash back to Windows! :)

Thanks for the lovely warm welcome Luciel. I am sorry for double posting. Do you think I would intentionally double post?

Maybe if the forum wasn't so slow it wouldn't of happened, but it's not a big deal. I just hope my tried and tested solution (similar to others) works so everyone can play FM 2006! :)

Just a point, there are many different methods available for getting this game to work with the image- Please post in the overall thread :)
Second point- DO NOT run the game with the NT4 compatibility on, this only defeated the copy protection in the first version, and now all it does is cause an unrecoverable crash in Jan 06.

Cheers

That's strange. I can get into February 2006 without any problems whatsoever. In my experiments Daemon caused me lots of problems, which is why I am using Alcohol 120%.

leezer3 28-10-2005 12:34

Hmm
With me, Daemon has worked perfectly from the start, and I have never needed the Safedisc hider either. (Not running Anti-Blaxx or anything like that either)
Anyway, if you had bothered to read the previous thread, you would find the NT4 compatibility problem discussed at length, and a link to the SigGames forum topic on it.

I have read the whole Football Manager "Mini Image" thread. I've even uploaded a PDF step by step of my working solution. Just be patient and I am sure GCW will publish it shortly.

The point is my solution works "consistently" and "reliably". Very important I am sure you'll agree. Just because some users are experiencing problems doesn't mean everyone is, does it?

Dunno where you heard that but it's a load of bollocks.

leezer3 29-10-2005 12:55

Where did I hear that?
How about in the sticky in the SI games forum?-

I have been read the solution and it doesn't work here :(

It doesn't say a word about crashing in January 2006. Also, it doesn't say that NT Compatibility is expicit cause of low memory error. I would say, that running the game in NT Compatibility only uses more memory, which can lead to low memory problem.

leezer3 30-10-2005 02:36

No, that thread doesn't EXPLICITLY state that the cause is the NT Compatibility
However, if you bothered to keep an eye on the official tech support forum, you would find that EVERYONE who has reported this out of memory crash is running in NT Compatibility!!!
Bottom line- It does nothing anyway, so don't bother with it.

Yeah, NT compatibility probably uses more memory, so it can cause problems... anyhow, I'm now in september '06 without any problems at all. fm.exe does indeed take up a lot of memory (175k) and CPU Usage is constantly at 99% - 100%, but so far I haven't got any errors with NT Compatibility.

unknownsoldier 30-10-2005 02:40

I don't have the game but can't you just use the Generic SafeDisc 4.60 Patch ?
