Quake 4

I've installed the DVD version with original serial, everything installed fine. however when I run the game, it throws up a grey window then reports that it's caused an error and gives you the option to send a detailed report to MS, I ok this and it goes back to the Desktop.

Any ideas.

I'm running Windows XP Corp
ATI Radeon 8500 Series Graphics card
512 MB Ram
1.8 CPU

Would like to get it up and running, if not it's been a waste of money buying it

Thanks in advance for any help on the subject :)

THIS IS NOT A SUPPORT FORUM, contact the publishers.

Orion....granted Luciel was a little on edge in his reply, he is right. The publishers help out alot more than we could....Just thank god you aren't dealing with EA...LOL....I dealt with them over a Battlefield 2 CD Key problem...that resulted in me swallowing my pride and taking the game back to the retailer and getting a different copy.....And Luciel....Granted I am new here and have little to no room say anything to you, you might want to lay back just a bit...I mean in the forum, it doesn't explicitly say "Don't Ask For Help On Games", I am sure that Orion thought that it may have been a common problem and somebody here may have ran into it, and was simply asking for help, granted he could have put it in the General gaming forum........it's still hardly reason to snap at him...

@jlg6184: This is the PC Game BACKUP Forum, it clearly says this on the Forum title, no support issues should be posted here! If you pick a fight with Luciel, I know who will win :D

Hehehehe :D

I know that this is the backup part of the forum, hence my reference to the general gaming forums. and picking a fight isn't something I really want to do, I just think Luciel is was kinda hard on Orion....

DABhand 28-10-2005 02:05

Not really though, he is staff and I think hes a bit fed up with people who cant read simple instructions, Backup doesnt mean support, so people just waltz in and think, ok ill post in this section.

help

Hi orion2.

Just curious as to what error message comes up?

I've recently fixed quake4 exe to run perfectly fine on win98 on gf4. with regards to the specs to play this game, i'm suprised that they put gf3 there but not ati-8500 considering, its much faster then gf3, and also supports pixel shader 1.4, and runs bf2 just fine. obviously at lower details.

Peace

DABhand 28-10-2005 02:34

an 8500 supports Pixel Shading 1.4?

As dabhand well said, i'm fedup of people that can't read, specially the ones that don't read the specs on the box before they buy...

orion2 28-10-2005 10:39

Most humble applogies.

Maybe I was too anxious to get it working and seeing as yous probably have more experience than the retailers then this was my port of call.

Again sorry for the inconvenience :(

Luciel 28-10-2005 18:25

Nah dont worry about it mate, sorry i was bit stressed at the time. but yeah, for your own good, read the tags in the box, saves you from having to return it to the shop ;)
