Burning Quake 4 DVD Version With Alcohol 120%

Can anyone help me in finding an app that can do the same as Alcohol 120% or simila for copying a Protected Backup of Quake 4 DVD Version.

I have tried it with Alcohol 120% & even tho it works but not able to play it successfully.

Apparently Alcohol 120% only gives you the Protection Options for CD's & not DVD's & thats why I ask for anyones help here...

I have tried the Latest CloneCD but it will not work as it Burns my Q4 DVD image as a DVD Video Format or something like that as the Extension is .dvd

Appreciate any help & advise

There are no programs that will backup protected DVD's.

Modifying Your Original DVD Installer

Thats a big shame, I guess thats why everyone go's for the CD Version instead.

But I do & have tested that you can use your Original DVD Installer...

With my DVD Version I have Modified the .MSI file to Except the NO DVD Crack instead of the Protected 1...

Just Copy all of the files from the DVD Version to your Hard Drive as for Example C:\Quake 4
Just Copy the Modified .MSI file & overwrite the Original .MSI
And do the Same with the NO DVD Crack
Replacing the Original file & of course Backing up your Original Files as well.

Tested & Working
1 Problem I think ? How can I upload it to Game CopyWorld & or can we post Direct Links for NO CD & DVD Cracks ?

 ;)

@Sidney- It is entirely possible to back up protected DVDs, I've done it myself.

Anyway, first try Alcohol with the RMPS data precision on high- This should get it to run. (Try image before burning)
Alternatively, you could use BlindWrite, which has always worked perfectly for me :D

Cheers

As for uploading stuff to GCW, uhm, there's a forum sticky about it: http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=67512 !

Alcohol 120% & Uploading

I have Tried all that with Alcohol 120% & it just will not allow me to Pick a Protection Scheem when its from a DVD.

Uploading to Game CopyWorld does not work as I have done it 2wice now & it is no where to be seen.

If the upload site doesn't work, submit patches via E-mail; that thread contains a link to the submit info page.

Before making an image, run ProtectionID to find out the games protection.

Then when making an image use that protection scheme while making an image. (bottom left of first image making wizard - change to protection)

Read at a slow speed, for dvd's 4x

Then burn back at 4x

I no what the Protection is, I just cannot get Alcohol 120% to give me the List I need to choose from... using CD's no problem but DVD's no way & when trying to make Image from DVD I cannot select any Speeds & the only Options I have is
"Skip Read errors"
"Data Position Measurement"
& the option of "Precision" Normal or High.

Nothing else Except the Option that says NEVER SPLIT etc... which makes no difference. Also CloneCD is useless as it gives a Extension of .DVD & try using the Image gives an Invalid Files Type...

So I am at a loss on what I can do to make a copy protected Disk

What leezer said should work?

But when you want to play from the DVD you will need to turn on the RMPS emulation in Alcohol.

And Jedi, when submitting files to GCW they will not show up right away until Empire posts it.

And Dab I think you are forgetting Alcohol wont let you choose a protection for DVD's. ;)

No I have not tried blindwrite

Tho I have used it before on others in same sitsuation in the past still I cannot do a successfull protected copy backup.

But I can say that this is the 1st copy protection I cannot do & its the 1st time that I have relised that DVD Protected Games are harder to backup.

I would also bet myself if I had it on CD & not DVD then I would have a Backup Copy Successfully...

Until there is a proper program that can do DVD protections like Alcohol 120% or simular then I might just stick to the CD version's if possible...

I should say that I have never had problems using Alcohol 120% & I have also made successfully protected Games with Securom 3/4x & able to run from the Backup CD's. Example games like The Thing & Aliens Vs Predator 2.

I have used a Liteon Burner for every occasion.

:) :D

Blindwrite just sits there looking stupid and doesn't even try to dump this disc.
Like I said before - no programs to backup protected DVD's.

try dvddecryptor if you can find it
