F.E.A.R. backup cd walkthrough
 

ok guys been working on figuring this out all night and i hope this helps yall i went through and read through different threads until i was able to understand how to do this, so dont flame me pls saying someone else said this. im just making it easier for those needing help. some of this may or may not be redundant and unescessary i just wanna help yall get going.
first thing i did uninstalled the game
then i mounted the image file via daemon tools.
then i reinstalled the game via that image.
then i disabled daemon tools virtual drive.
then i clicked on the desktop shortcut and went to properties went to compatability mode changed to win2000 compatability mode(i am using windows xp)
then i mounted the game via alcohol 120%
then i used sr7stop which you can find a link to on gamecopyworld.com to hide the virtual drive.
then i ran the desktop shortcut.
BINGO finally able to play fear. id love to see a response if this works for you just to make sure i didnt forget any steps hope yall enjoy :)

- install game from image
- run patched anti-blaxx 1.17

settings for anti-blaxx
--> Restore: "after game exits"
--> Method: "Delete entries"

settings for FEAR:
--> game: <browse to InstDir>FEAR.exe .. ex. E:\Sierra\FEAR\FEAR.exe
!! antiblaxx will detect S7 protection

mount image -> Alcohol: (usually device 0):
--> point to your image.mds

exit

.. right click in systray -> run game every time u want,
just one click (no disabling/enabling drives)

Just set compatibility to Win2000 and use Virtual CD Hide

One question from a nob ;). I make the image with Alcohol? What settinhs should I use?

Just use the Securom New setting with DPM data at high quality. and try reading at slow speeds, 2x/4x

Hey Slandaro - I followed your instructions step by step. When I tried launching Sr7Stop (from gamecopyworld) it would freeze without hiding anything. Only way to quit it is to press the red X in top right. So this idea did not work for me :(.

I also tried nospin and loedD's ideas - still says "Original disk could not be found or authenticated".

I am guessing here but does having a 64 bit processor interefere with blocking emulation?

Please help :(

Yeah, it worked until I patched to 1.01 and now it gives me a new error saying REMOVE DISC FROM BLA BLA and place it drive H which is the real drive.
It won't use virtal drives even with Virtual CD Hide and SR7. Stop!

Hi,

I did all the steps which slandaro has written, but when i try to start Fear, he sais that he can't find my original disc...
do i have to burn my backup on a disc and put it into the drive, or will it normaly work with the image on my hdd?

Ok so I have looked all over hell and gone and cannot find any trace of a link to sr7stop on Gamecopyworld or on the internet for that matter. Anyone help me out here?

Second question:

What does patched anti-blaxx mean? I have d/led 1.17 but i can find no reference to a patched version?
