GTA San Andreas
Has anyone got this game to run from the hard drive? I'm hoping there will be a patch for this? I usually extrace the game dvd to my computer then ftp the game back into my xbox hard drive. most games seem to work fine, but i do have some games that wont run when playing off the hd. usually i get kicked back to the dashboard from a black screen. I've also tried with TSR=disabled and IGR=no. Still no luck. Could this be solved by patching from dvd2xbox acl files?
xbox 1.6/5838 kernel xecuter 2.6 ce 200 gb EvolutionX +3935 EvoX M8 v16.67 bios |
Did you buy a version that is the same as your region?
If you live in europe you should have a PAL version of the game but if you ordered it from the internet you could have a NTSC version and thus need a patch... Or did you download it? |
I seem to have no problem playing pal or ntsc games w/o any patches. Is that weird or something.
Your TSR should be on normal. IGR can be no since your bios already handles that. You could try using Xecuters X2 5032 bios and see if that works. |
DRAGoN.X wether you can play NTSC/PAL without problems is more due to the bios used, dashboard settings, msdash settings and a few more factors.
I can only play PAL games because my TV can't handle NTSC so I can never preorder games from the U.S or similar, too bad I spent money on a few games before noticing my TV couldn't handle it. Perhaps your TV can handle both PAL and NTSC and your dashboard sets your xbox region to be PAL or NTSC depending on each game. It is likely to be that way and you can be happy... :D For sharkfin it is not a BIOS problem that is for sure, the EvoX M8 bios is fine and has always been. It is the most supported and currently the best 1.6 bios out there. There is on the other hand a 1.6 version of the X2 5035 bios too but that one is not as stable as the EvoX IMO. I can play GTA: SA fine with my EvoX M8Plus bios on my DuoX2. It also works on my other xbox that has X2 4981 on an Aladdin Advance 32.... So not a bios problem that is for sure. I still think it is a region problem. He must have gotten a copy from the wrong region for some strange reason. @Sharkfin, is the game working as it should when you play from the disc? |
I never new my xbox/tv were so special. I think it's a setting on my X3 were it is set to auto adjust the region. Also my tv is ntsc but if i switch my xbox to pal mode my tv gets messed up but when it's on ntsc mode, it plays pal games just fine.
Now i'm confused, confused but happy! :D dragonx |
Ahh you have NTSC as standard... Then you should have no problems playing PAL games in NTSC modes (as your X3 BIOS might set it to then).
NTSC is 60Hz and PAL is 50Hz so NTSC can handle PAL but PAL can't handle NTSC... Not in themselves atleast. Like when I try to play some NTSC games I get bad stuttering (the sound) and in-game movies goes real bad. When I change to NTSC region my TV gets Black&White with no sound (my tv can't handle NTSC). My TV can however handle PAL 60Hz mode but there is something else that is different too so... No luck for me... :( However I am waiting to hear from sharkfin and his GTA: SA as I know there was an AV-fix released for the NTSC version of GTA: SA so it could be played on PAL xbox. But the PAL version is playable directly when moved from the DVD to the HDD. Atleast for me. |
Appreciate the help. It is a NTSC and I'm on a NTSC xbox. So it wasnt the region...most likely some other problem (like me). The only thing i did different was the copying method. Instead of ftp'ing my files over to xbox via flashfxp, I used dvd2xbox (backup to xbox hard drive) then used qwix to make an iso onto my computer then alcohol to burn. Worked fine. But i really dont know what the difference was that made it work. Oh, the original disk was borrowed from my friend. Anyways now i'm trying to backup NBA LIVE 06, but my new method isn't working either. Think the xbe needs to be patched.
